Memories of White Hart Lane – Moments in time

30 years ago, I was a Tottenham crazy teenager…..

My dad, (was also Tottenham mad), had a friend who was a sports photographer for the Daily Mail. He attended “A LOT” of Spurs games during the late 70’s and early 80’s, including FA CUP FINALS, CHARITY SHIELDS, FA CUP ROUNDS, and EUROPEAN GAMES.

As a sports photographer (remember this was the 1980’s), some pictures were used, but “A LOT” weren’t…..

I was given a stack of unused press association black and white prints from around 1978 through to the mid eighties.

I was clearing out my loft a few weeks ago, and have found a stack of Spurs memorabilia, programmes, pictures/prints, ticket stubbs, newspaper cuttings of the 1981 – 1982 FA CUP RUN and FINALS, autographs, shirts, just so much……..

My cousin (VINNY SAMWAYS) went on to play for Spurs in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and I have untold pictures and programmes and autographs from the 1991 FA CUP WINNING squad.

Moments in time, is going to be a picture based series of “MOMENTS THAT CHANGED SPURS HISTORY”.

Part 1 will be a favourite of mine. Its the “1981 FA CUP FINAL REPLAY” against MANCHESTER CITY. It’s a GLORIOUS moment as GARTH CROOKS has just equalised to get Spurs back in the game at 2-2. Just look at the JOY in STEVE ARCHIBALDS face, as he grabs hold of the goalscorer GARTH CROOKS, (see picture below)

This was a “MAJOR MOMENT IN SPURS HISTORY”, as Spurs went on to win that FA CUP FINAL. I was lucky enough to be there, and this picture really makes me smile, a really great “MOMENT IN TIME” for the SPURS…. This was one of the pictures that NEVER made it to the back pages…..

Look out for part 2 coming soon. If you enjoy taking a trip down memory “LANE”, then check out my stories titled “MEMORIES OF WHITE HART LANE” for some yarns of GLORIOUS times gone by, or check out my homepage or even subscribe to my blog…. Until then COYS
