we have gone for strong imposing midfielders (well apart from young Carroll). I find this our strongest area. Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and now Capoue, not many teams with that kind of talent. Can think of a certain red team who could do with at least 2 of those type of players. Like the fact that this lad can play centre back too. Watched a bit of french football last season and he did stand out as one of the better players. 9m, what a steal. although we are selling and not buying british you can understand why. No way could you pick up an english guy with this talent for that price
I thought he looked very good when he came on, but I didn’t realize he did this well. [TWEET]369102856009183233[/TWEET]
Looked very good today in his debut. He legitimately did look like Sandro but with a bit more skill going forward. Can just imagine having Capoue and Sandro on the pitch at the same time to kill of a match!
I thought he looked good in his debut. One hell of a beast, looks to carry the ball well when should to should with any player. My only worry is those kind of jumping in tackles , while not two footed, they could be dangerous.
Looked incredible yesterday, that stat above doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, said exactly the same during the match, the kid looks like a beast v2 for sure.
I was watching the match with my brother and said ‘I think we might have found ourselves another sandro’!! I was very impressed. Welcome etienne, great start to your spurs career.
I spent the whole summer looking forward to Paulinho in a Spurs shirt but the Capoue came on….I just liked what he did…Tackled well and one touch passing
He looks an excellent buy, he’s strong, forward thinking, throws in tackles and can pass too. After he came on it just seems to be everywhere although the one shot he had did kill the palace eagle, but a very promising sub debut . Team seems to be shaping up very nicely, looking good.
Saying all the right things…….kid looks like a quality signing!!!!!!Premier League: Etienne Capoue delighted to make Tottenham debut | Football News | Sky Sports Etienne Capoue has expressed his delight at making his Tottenham debut and believes they are the "perfect club" to take his career to a new level. The France international had been the subject of transfer negotiations for several weeks before finally completing a £9.4million move to White Hart Lane from Ligue 1 side Toulouse last Thursday. The 25-year-old made his first appearance in a Spurs shirt as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League win at Crystal Palace. Speaking after the game, Capoue said the north London outfit is the perfect club for him to join at this stage of his career. "I’m feeling great. I knew England was a great league and I saw that in my very first match," Capoue told L’Equipe. "There is a lot of intensity. My team-mates helped me a lot to feel at ease. Moreover we started with a win, which is perfect. "I needed to go abroad and I have been lucky to join the best league in the world. England, with the atmosphere and fans very close to the pitch, is what any footballer dreams of. "I get that at Tottenham, which is the perfect club to reach a new level in my career."
That has been to flawless games from him. Watch out Sandro Capoue looks to be class player. Once again he must have had 5+ interceptions, passing was smooth keeping the ball moving and some good tackles.
For me this lad is a great signing & probably imo last night my favorite player. I know Townsend was amazing & Soldado scored a brace BUT watching Capoue was just brilliant. He’s strong, can pass & most of all he gives us a shield & great balance. Every time they got behind our midfield last night he was there to sweep up and start off another attack. I love Soldado, Chadli & Paulinho they’ve looked amazing, but Capoue at only £9m looks an absolute steel.
He’s such a huge upgrade on Huddlestone and Parker it’s mind-blowing. All our play is now 50% faster because we win the ball and move it on so much better.
Very impressed already. Looking forward to him and sandro ‘fighting’ for the starting 11 place (I know avb will rotate them). Come to think of it of they did fight you would probably hear the ground shudder in Brazil. Beasts…both of them. Coys
My first effort to work with Paint.net. Player’s characteristics are from WhoScored.com and the background picture i find with google. I needed a bit darker background picture so i used effects to not mess with the white text. Decent first try i guess ^_^.
He is a perfect example of our squad as a whole being absolutely stacked. If Capoue isn’t able to be first choice then our cup and Europa squads are going to be scary.
His performance today had the aspects of Palacios, Sandro, and Carrick all into a 6’3" giant with surprising quickness and pace. This guy is an absolute steal for £9 million and arguably one of our best signings. Sandro is going to have a task getting back into the team (never thought I’d say that)
Andre Villas-Boas had praise for Etienne Capoue after his first Premier League start. Etienne’s ability to win the ball back alongside Paulinho was a real feature of the performance as we continually put Swansea under pressure in the central areas. But Etienne also has an eye for goal as he showed in the first half when he fizzed a shot from 30 yards at Michel Vorm and then glanced a header just wide. In the end, Roberto Soldado’s penalty was enough and just reward for an impressive performance that reaped 21 efforts at goal to Swansea’s seven.
Clearly one of the best buys of the season, he has made such a difference to the team, how good is he going to be once settled into the team.
