I loved Honda during the last World Cup. But since that he's had a serious knee injury. When I saw him play with Japan some months ago he still didn't look right to me. Maybe the word is out that he's damaged goods.
You say that is unlikely we'd get him, but I'd say otherwise. Free player who is quality and would bring us money from Asia? Basically if we have signed Dempsey, who was shite, I'd say it's likely that we will go for Honda. We did not need Dempsey either, but he brought us the money.
not much of a gamble if hes free or under 5m (ie: if we pull a holtby) the only situation in which i think hed be a gamble is if we got rid of someone to bring him in
I'm not so sure about this. Where would this leave Carroll? We all know he's immensely talented and is going to be a very good player in the future without a doubt, and obviously he's British and homegrown. He's good enough to be playing in the premier league, as was Caulker. We don't even need Honda anyway.
Pirlo will sign a new contract for Juve. Honda is a brilliant player, but for godsake, how many more midfielders do we need to add. I used to not care and be excited with every player we signed but even I am getting annoyed with it. We have three AM's, Holtby, Siggy and Eriksen..
Right now our major concern is a left back and right now i still don't see any link of us with any left back !!!! :S
According to sunday express. Are we going to spend that much on his salary if he has a dodgy injury ? ..if anything it would be a "pay as you play" Spurs set to win Keisuke Honda race with bumper contract offer | Transfers | Tribal Football
We need a deep lying playmaker. Doesn't this guy play in the same position as Eriksen, Holtby, Siggurdsson, Lamela? (I understand the latter 2 can play on the wings as well).
I haven't seen us linking with any deep lying playmaker except moutinho in the AVB reign ....... either its box to box cm or number 10 who can play on wing as well
Tottenham transfer news: Spurs close in on deal to sign Keisuke Honda in the January transfer window | Metro News Honda is an exceptional player and in the prime of his career but surely it would be to the detriment of all the other players mentioned. I wouldn't be opposed to signing him but it wouldn't really be fair to Siggy/Holtby. I really like the both of them however we'd need to let one go, wouldn't be right to have such promising players just sitting on the bench.
holtby can play cm sometimes, and siggy can play LW. rotation is still possible even if we do sign honda. personally though I prefer pirlo over honda if we are to sign a midfielder. left back cover is urgent though!!!!!!!!!
Keisuke Honda to join AC Milan, report says Japanese international Keisuke Honda has signed a formal deal to join AC Milan when his contract with Russian champions CSKA Moscow expires on December 31, a report said Thursday. Documents related to his free transfer to the European giants have been submitted to Italian football authorities, the Sports Nippon daily said. AC Milan vice-president and chief executive Adriano Galliani recently told associates that the Serie A club had "formally contracted with Honda and had already submitted documents," the Japanese daily said, quoting well-informed sources. When CSKA Moscow issue a transfer certificate for Honda, he will automatically be registered as an AC Milan player, the sources told Sports Nippon. AC Milan failed to sign the 27-year-old attacker -- who helped Japan reach the last-16 at the 2010 World Cup -- during the summer transfer window. The Russian side had reportedly demanded a five-million-euro (USD 6.7 million) transfer fee. After nearly four years with the reigning Russian champions, Honda has been eyeing Europe`s top clubs as he looks ahead to next year`s World Cup in Brazil. He has in the past been linked with several English Premier League clubs. After the summer deal broke down, Honda told media he had a "number of options" when his time in Moscow ends. It was reported last week that Tottenham were set to sign Honda in January. Juventus, Monaco and Liverpool are among other clubs that reportedly showed interest in acquiring Honda. AFP
