.................who thinks we have enough and the right tools to beat Barca?

I think why the Goons looked so bad was because they play one way only. They play the exact same type of football but they are a fraction as good as Barca.

We on the other hand play the typical old skool English game. We have big burly defenders, flying wingers and the big and small combo up front.

We, if we did it well, would unsettle them if we managed to get the ball off them long enough to play our game.

I dont think they are brilliant defensively and in the air 2 meter peter would cause any defender in the world problems. Bale and Lennon could roast and full back on this plannet and Modric and VDV can conjure little spells to find the chinks in their armour.

Now dont for one second think that I am saying I want to play them as it would almost certainly mean over 2 legs we would be out of this competition but I think in a one off final with them and us we could pinch it with the right set up.

Barca in the final if we managed to get that far.....................I would be confident we would be shown up half as bad as the cuckoos from Woolwich.

    COYS.

Well, we'd definitely give it a right go, that's for sure. That being said, just because we can actually mix it up, it doesn't mean we can beat Barca. It'll take a superhuman effort from all our players to have a chance of beating them.

i'm with ya on that one. i have said all along we can beat anyone at home anyway so we would only need a draw away and could quite easily get that

I do agree that Woolwich got beaten at their own game, which suited Barca to the ground, but i think we would get destroyed at the Nou Camp. They have the best players in the world, and with our shaky defence, i think we'd concede a lot. I'd be very suprised if our middle men get anywhere near Iniesta/Xavi and if you touch them, it's gonna be a foul. Maybe, just maybe.

I also rate we could take 'em spiky muppets. ;)

My main worry would be their pressing ability though. Our attacks would have to be s00per precise and quick as all hell. In the midfield, swamping them isn't enough - they'll just pass through you. You'd need a proper DM who also had a mind for launching counters, aka. Sandro. ;)

Actually, come to think of it - Sandro and a fit Thudd vs Barca would be immense!

i think we would get tortured by barca personally, they would give big dawson et all the run around, could you imagine assou-ekotto up against the likes of messi and pedro zipping about all over the place? they would carve us open like a turkey at christmas

My problem is that I simply am not satisfied, even though I know I should be. I am absolutely excited that we about our victory over Milan but holy fook this competition is addicting. Luckily we seem to rise to the challenge against big sides and for that reason I have no fear of any of the remaining sides. We can beat anybody, though some are easier matchups than others.

Milan just had 60% possession and our midfield is head and shoulders better. That said, we've beaten the Scum playing the Barca style so who's to say we couldn't bully Barca a bit. Just saying we could keep up with the squad of the last decade is saying a lot about our progress as a team.

personally i agree with P unit however we'd have to get the 2nd leg at the lane. Also i think at the nou camp we'd have to be very boring and try and concede as little as possible relying on lennon and bale to run with the ball quickly on the counter. Also id consider dropping VDV to the bench on any away leg due to his lack of workrate and play if fit Thudd, sandro and modric a little further infront of them (a bit radical i know but i think it would work). We would have to try and use brute force in the midfield hence sandro and thudd however they can retain posession well unlike palacios. It would be a tall order and i wouldnt admit it anywhere but if we drew barca i would secretly fancy us to maybe just maybe do something.

Get the ball out wide to Bale and Lennon and I think thats where the damage would be done. Can't ever remember anyone running at a Barca team . . . . . who knows how they would deal with it.

We seem to be focusing a lot on what we could theoretically do offensively against Barca.

Messi vs BAE, that should go well... *Sighs*

If we played narcs like we played AC the we would be ****ed. We couldn't keep the ball and couldn't get our passing game going. But if we were all at are very best what a game it would be!

Nop. we would get crushed, pretty sure of that. No team has the tools to bring the game to Barcelona, what you can do is what Mourinho did last season, defend, defend, defend and then try counteratcking when giving the chance, and despite our performance against milan, defending isnt our strong point.

Yea, I don't know how we would fair against Barca, their passing game is ridiculously good. It helps them that a lot of those players play together for club and national team. You could say the Milan game was a short preview of how we play against a team that dominates possession (which Barca does a whole heck of a lot better than Milan ever will).

I second the notion of having Sandro and Huddlestone playing together vs Barca, we would need both of them to help as DM's I think.

At the Lane it would be interesting. But Barca would win going away at the Nou Camp. As has already been said, its not about Spurs on offense, its what Barca can and would do on offense.

As much as I dislike the so-called "best club team in the world" with the way they scream like little girls when an opponent "breathes on" one of them, or with how they play as if they're entitled to every flippin' call, they're just too good offensively.

Spurs might score 3, but they'd put in 5 -- 4 legitimately and 1 or 2 more with the help of the officials, lol......

This season, they've drawn with the likes of Rubin Kazan and Copenhagen in the CL, drawn with Bilbao, (and a couple of others) if memory serves, and lost to the scum and Betis. It's not impossible, but of course beating them over two legs is an enormous feat. The problem is that, while teams that press up the pitch usually hate being pressed themselves, Barca has so much pace that you can't really hold that high a line against them as it just becomes a matter of time with those diagonal through balls they hit to messi and villa.

On the other hand, though, we certainly have the pace to keep them a little more honest on the wings than arsenal did.

Like I said, it's not impossible, but I'd like to see us get a little more manageable opposition in the quarters.

To be honest the best one on one defender we have is BAE. He's shut down most of the wingers he's come up against he kept Nani quiet when we played Man United, not saying that Messi=Nani but he is one of the best wingers in the country now. Also he tends to step up his game against big opponents. Manchester united also plays a similar style to us in the champions league and in the last 3 years they won one game lost one game and drew another. Its not impossible. In fact i'd fancy us to be the ones that could beat them over most of the clubs still in the compettion.Us, ManU, Chelsea, and Real those are the only ones with a chance. I added Real only because of the mourinho factor, I can't see him getting spanked 4 times in one year by the same team.

Idk if it weren't for a stupid mistake they would have only gotten 1 past Arsenal's defense for 135 minutes. Their next two goals came after Arsenal were down to 10 men, and one of them was a penalty. So three goals in open play against Arsenal in 180 minutes, and one of them when arsenal has 10 men on the pitch? A team hailed as greatest ever should do better. Arsenal's defense is their absolute weakest spot, I mean they were playing Djourou and Koscienly at the back for Christ's sake. If they can stop Barca from scoring by keeping it tight at the back so can we and to greater effect. Plus Arsenal were dreadful that game, I noticed watching it again that even in Barca's third Arsenal never sent a ball out wide for a cross into the box even though they had easy opportunities to. They turned right into the middle and usually hit a sloppy pass that surrendered possession. Plus their defenders and guys like Diaby couldn't complete a basic pass even when not under pressure. Our team is set up in a way that we could do much better.

Well we might as well give up then going by some of the posts.

Let's just tell Sepp Twatter to give them the trophy now.

Look any team can be beaten on any day. Spurs on a good day can beat anyone and I mean anyone.

Barca as has been proven can lost to anyone.

You are not alone in this. I also think we can beat Barca if we put our minds to it.
This is why I want to be drawn with them. We wouldn't underestimate them AT ALL
and therefore put up more of a game.

Plus, we have Sandro winning the ball back everywhere so it'd be quite end-to-end stuff.
This would make for one epic two-legged game, whatever the result.

tbh we shouldnt fear anyone, the progress weve made in the cl in our first season is a massive success so we should be proud of ourselves, any futher in the competetion is a bonus for me and were well capable of beating any team left in it on our day so we have a great chance.

If following spurs has taught us anything, it's that's anything's possible.

We're likely to beat them on either side of a loss to a pair of relegation battlers.

With our defense the way it is now we cannot hope to play the counter attack game we have to push forward if we are to leave a mark on them.

It's very hard to run at Barca, when the possession stats go Barcelona, Ball Boy, Injury Time, Your Team.

Thank fcuk. Somebody with half a brain for football that can see the tremendous value that BAE brings to our team. He is a terriffic player and one of the best left backs running around anywhere.

    Kudos to you sir.

If you believe that when Messi comes to town its a one on one situation that you don't have a clue though buddy, and your "thank fcuk that someobody has half a brain for football" comment is filled the to brim with irony. He buzzes from all angles of the pitch. Do you really think he is just gonna stand out on the left and get marked out of the game by Benny? If he isn't getting any joy, he just moves and takes apart Hutton. If by some sort of miracle, Hutton contains him, he drops deep and causes us hell against the inexperienced Sandro. If still theres no joy, he just goes into a straight running race with Gallas.

He isn't the best player of his generation so that Assou-Ekkoto can mark him out of a two legged tie!!

Hey pal, go and reread my post. I never made any comment about BAE marking Messi out of a two legged tie. I didn't even mention Messi's name. I was simply commenting on the fact that not everybody thinks BAE is useless. He is, in fact a very good left back despite the inane ramblings of several of the ignorami on here.

Perhaps you need to look up the meaning of the word "irony" before you dish out the English lessons. Got it?
