I 'd take him, a hungry young player and has PL experience. Him and Rose would be two good options with scope to develop.

Our last Welsh LB turned out pretty good as I recall...

Yes please. A decent upgrade at LB should make quite a large difference to our defence as a whole.

Well if he turns out like Bale we would still be in a crisis at left-back... :p

A pretty good LB and will probably get better in the years to come.

    Walker -- Lovren -- Vertonghen -- Davies

    Would be great. :)

I definately would've prefered Shaw, but that transfer fee was just ridiculous. I see Davis as a reasonable alternative, he has a long-term contract until 2017 though, could be costly. Maybe BAE/Rose/Fryers loan/sell in return?

That won't do it. Rose + 7 million or so would be reasonable for Davies. For them Rose would be a decent player (as he proved at Sunderland), for us he's just so clearly not up to it.

Davies is rated around £8m. You saying rose is worth £1m?

'Rated' is not the same as 'sold for'. He has a three year contract with Swansea, they are not going to do us any favours.

I don't think much of him to be honest. Obviously I've not watched him closely, but he's never caught my eye. Marcos Alsonso looked good to me at Sunderland. From the little of what I've seen of them, I'd say Alonso is much the better option and probably cheaper. But Jose Enrique is the one we should sign. I don't get why Rodgers wants to replace him, as I think he's as good a LB as there is in the league. I know he's been injured but Rodgers wasn't keen before that.

I like Davies a lot, and if we sign him we have a back line that can play and develop together for the next 4 or 5 years in Walker/New CB/Vertonghen/Davies. But, he could be expensive, and there are things about him that worry me defensively. If we bring him in, I'd want someone more experienced to back him up or rotate with him - though at this point, beggars can't be choosers.

Hands off you lot, he's ours, although £5m + Siggy would do the trick.

Everything I've read says they would accept £8m. Maybe they're wrong though.

Think you're probly right. Although the LB market is fooked.

Anything more than £10m for Davies and id rather just throw the difference in for Ricardo Rodriguez.

I approve. A touch above Rose and hopefully with competition they'll spur each other on to improve further.

get the heck outta here. Siggy is not worth 5m. Siggy for Davies is fair. He's a LB, calm down. All this Luke Shaw nonsense is ruining the market

Above 10 for Davies is pricey but us asking 10 for Siggy is wishful thinking aswell imo.

Aren't there some solid LB's from the Portuguese league or something? There's always good full backs coming from there.

Not the answer in my opinion he is too defensive and doesn't offer enough offensively.

We need attacking full backs and if I had to choose between Rose and Davies I would stick with Rose. I know his defensive game there is much to be desired, but towards the end of the season Rose started to show some promise going forward. He himself admitted TS and Les encouraged him to be more offensive and it ended up paying off in the last few games.

I think with Poch his defensive game will certainly get better and I can also see him improve even more offensively as Poch was the one that added a lot to Shaw's attacking game with the change of play-style that made him so sought after.

Rose gets a lot of s**t on here, some deserved, but much more unnecessary s**t. I believe deep down there is a very good player waiting to grow into his potential and Poch is the ideal manager to to nurture him into a very good wing back after the work he has done with Shaw, Chambers, and Clyne.

Well Rose will still be here next season, it will give us a choice at LB which we desperately need. It can never hurt to have options.

Both Rose and Davies can improve under MoPo and challenge for the first XI. Fryers will probably become a CB and BAE will leave.

I think the problem has been that too many people expected him to be the finished article, and call him rubbish because he isn't - yet. I agree he does have potential and might end up being top quality, but he ain't yet. I hope that the Poch does develop his talent and that the impatient people shut the fukk up. I do like the look of Ben Davies and think he would be a good buy for us.
