If we win one out of the next two games we finish second having lost 4 games to date? Youngest squad in the league with the best defence! Please merge if this thread already exists mods.

Well fiorentina was their last man standing in both cups, and we had 3 teams go beyond them, and that is with west ham and saints failing to make the group stages recently for the english coefficient!!

We might as well start talking about this.

Here is how the first two "pots" are looking for the draw:

    pot 1:

    barca
    leicester
    juve
    psg
    benfica
    real/atleti
    bayern
    cska moscow

    pot 2:

    real/atleti
    dortmund
    arse
    basel
    leverkusen
    porto?
    city?
    napoli?
    sevilla?

We're looking at pot 3, but might sneak into pot 2.

If we are in pot 3 I worry might end up in a group of death. Imagine getting Barca and Dortmund in the group stages. Hopefully the draw will be kind to us.

Last time when i think we might have also been in pot 3 we got the defending champions Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, and FC Twente, then having won the group, got 7 times winners AC Milan, then having won that Real Madrid.

I reckon we won't fear anyone, although admittedly Barca and Dortmund would be tough.

We could also end up with Bayern and Atleti or Bayern and Real Madrid.

I don't care who we get really. Win win. If we get CSKA from the first pot then that would be the most favorable draw, if we get Barca then great. That's what we are in it for. I suppose we should get a massive team from the first pot and then we'd want an easier team from the second, but all the teams are pretty good.

I want us to have at least one of the big boys in our group as playing them is what it's all about in this comp. Bremen and Twente qualified as champs but they aren't anything like Real, Barca, Juve, Athletico, or PSG. Whoever we get I'm sure there will be some good away days to be had.

As of now, they're not even close to pot 2. But I assume if they win Europa that might get them close to sneaking in pot 2.

After this season I don't fear a single side in the world. Sure it isn't ideal to draw a side like Barca, but I embrace the idea that we will give them a couple of matches worthy of a Champions League tie.

A lot of people are looking at this all wrong. While some Spurs fans are not so excited about the thought of a group with Barca, Bayern, or Real, you better believe all of those teams' fans want no part of a group with Spurs.

I am in negotiations with Mrs D and my lovely friend wot ives in London, begging, a) to be allowed to go and b) a bed to kip in - as God's county closes at 10pm and nobody is allowed back in. The thought of seeing some of those big teams being battered at the Lane is making me moist!

Too bad supposedly it will be at Wembley instead of WHL.

Yep some great nights coming right up.....hope they will be at the Lane under lights, otherwise it looks like Wembley might be a shout....better for tickets but loses home advantage and likely a lot of atmosphere. Anyone that went to Spurs vs Inter Milan knows what I'm talking about....

Let me know when you're having a party I will come and piss on your cake. IF the games are at Wembley then that place will become the Lane for a night.

Lol, i was thinking it would be not bad to get cska moscow and Napoli.
Then after reading yours, i was being to optimistic about Spurs odds.

But if we are going to go out all guns blazing, bring on Barca and Dortmund! At worst, we will be in the EL again.

Watching Real Madrid vs Man City, I wouldn't be too put out by us drawing them. For all their pretty passing it about under no pressure from Citeh, who may as well have not turned up, they created very little.

Given our nervous and poor performance against Dortmund this year; it suggests we need to make squad improvements. We face another battle in the EPL and we can't treat ECL as a side project like Europa.

Do we sign an experienced player with ECL pedigree? Or should we stick to young players?

If we keep our key players over the summer (Kane, Toby, Eriksen, Dier, Alli) I can see us attracting some top talent. I think its fair to say that Lamela lacks the end product required for our system; but since he has the summer off, I'd rather see him work on that with the coaches than go out and buy somebody else.

Whilst the quality of teams will be significantly better, the Europa league preparation over the last few years will have been great experience for the players. We will play less games than the Europa league schedule and they will likely be closer to home, on a Tuesday and Wednesday, so all of that helps. Personally I would love to be in a group with Real Madrid, or at least play them at some stage, it would be great to see Bale and Modric back at the Lane, albeit in a different white shirt. Wouldn't mind Barca either, be good to see Messi.
