PAOK up 1-0 and 2-1 in aggregate on Benfica right now. If PAOK advance, Liverpool ends up in pot 2.
Make that 1-1 and 2-2. Game on!
1-2 2-3 Benfica. PAOK need 2 goals to win the tie.
1-3 2-4. Hello Pot 3 Liverpool!
PAOK needs 3 goals in 45 minutes or Liverpool is POT 3. Aw...
Silly PAOK. You don't concede a penalty immediately into second half. You draw one.
1-4 and 4 goals needed to save Liverpool's butts.
Liverpool will still be favorites to get out of their group, but it certainly makes their road more difficult.
Hello pot three my old friend......wait to you see them probably getting an easier draw than us now
Draw is tomorrow.
Pot 1: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Man City, Juve, PSG, Lokomotiv Moscow
Pot 2: Spurs, Dortmund, Porto, Man U, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Napoli, Roma
Pot 3: Liverpool, Schalke, Lyon, Monaco, CSKA Moscow, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia
Pot 4: Viktoria Plzen, Brugge, Galatasaray, Young Boys, Inter, Hoffenheim, Crvena Zvezda, AEK Athens
This is probably the most balanced the pots have been in years. Getting Lokomotiv Moscow in our group would be a huge win....besides that, the differences are fairly marginal.
Wow, does Moscow really have more clubs in the group stages than London?
Barcelona, SPURS, Ajax, Hoffenheim.
MAN CITY, Benfica, CSKA Moscow, Brugge.
Juventus, MAN UTD, Schalke, Young Boys.
Athletico Madrid, Dortmund, LIVERPOOL, Galatasaray.
ARSENAL, Squdio Haffie, FC Jechar, Kythgiovcsekgh.
Ive got no complaints with our draw. Besides Group D, there was no dramatically easier group to be put in. PSV was one of the weak teams in pot 3, so that’s advantageous. Inter are surely one of the strong teams in pot 4 so that’s not. All the teams in pot 1 besides Lokomotiv Moscow were tough so why not Barca?
I like the draw. Biggest part for me: no super long trips. Everything staying within a couple hour plane ride from London.
I agree with the others. Locomotiv Moscow is basically auto-out of group. Anyone else is functionally the same, so who cares? My preference would have been Madrid since we bet them last term and I'd love to beat them again. Barcelona is just as good. We get Messi this time.
I wanted Ajax from Pot 3 so Poch/Levy could see De Ligt play and maybe actually buy him. Ajax has some really good youngsters and we haven't raided them since last summer. Got PSV. No complaints.
I wanted anyone other than Inter for Pot 4 (expected Hoffenheim) but so be it. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last time they were in the CL we/Bale put them to the sword. That's like what, 6 years before they dared show their face at the big show again? And who is the first team they face upon their return? That's right. Us. We're way better than we were then, so we get to look forward to adding to their nightmare. Plus we get the San Siro game out of the way first. Also, wasn't it Inter that offered us $20M for Dembele and he said no? Can you imagine the irony of having to play against him the the CL?
Well, boys, we wanted respect/fear from the rest of the world. We got their attention last year. We have to go through Barca and Inter to get it this year. Let's get to work.
My preference for our knockout stage opponent:
1) Porto - obviously. They're a good team, but they're not in one of the top divisions.
2) Real Madrid. Their La Liga goal differential is 4. FOUR! They are not the same team without Ronaldo.
3) Bayern Munich. They've really struggled this year as well, relatively speaking.
4) Dortmund. They've been really good. I don't really want any part of them.
5) Juventus. They've also been really good, AND they've got Ronaldo. I really don't want any part of them.
6) PSG. They are scoring goals by the bucketful. No thank you.
Any one of them 6 are a gift compare to facing Liverpool.....according to Sky anyway
