Tottenham are looking at Lyon young gun Clinton N'Jie.

Reports suggest that Spurs are keeping tabs on the 21-year old Cameroon forward who is valued at around £12million.

N'Jie scored seven goals in 15 Ligue 1 starts for Lyon last season and is a key target for Tottenham who are being linked with a summer swoop for the talented Cameroon international.

Report: Levy holds talks with Clinton N'Jie, attacker keen on Tottenham move

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be considering signing Clinton N'Jie.

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing for a deal to sign Clinton N'Jie from Lyon, report The Sun.

    View image | gettyimages.com

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to have held talks with the striker and his representatives, and is hopeful of securing a deal quickly.

The Sun's report claims from their sources that N'Jie is keen on a move to the North London club, with seemingly the only stumbling block being whether the two clubs can agree a fee.

    Lyon and their president

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas is comparable to Daniel Levy for his ability as a tough and seasoned negotiator in the transfer market.

Spurs last struck a deal with Lyon for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris back in 2012, but it remains to be seen how prepared the Ligue 1 side are to dig in if they want to hold onto a player who has a contract at the club until 2019.

    N'Jie vs Martial

If Tottenham move for N'Jie, it could end their interest in Monaco attacker Anthony Martial, previously reported by France Football.

N'Jie is two years older at 21, but both play in similar positions, able to impress both up front and out wide.

While Martial has been likened to former French international Thierry Henry, N'Jie has to deal with inevitable comparisons to Samuel Eto'o, as a Cameroon international, with nine caps and four goals to his name.

N'Jie scored eight goals and provided nine assists in all competitions last season, with Martial scoring 12 and creating five.

Do you think Clinton N'Jie would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing highly-rated Lyon striker Clinton N’Jie, as per Goal.

The 21-year-old is rated at €17 million (£12m), as per the aforementioned sports news outlet, and would provide Harry Kane with some much-needed competition and back-up.

Harry Kane: I knew I could perform against anyone after Chelsea game

It will be a welcome addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side as the futures of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor are in doubt after an indifferent campaign for both players last term.

The Cameroon international has come through the ranks at Lyon and graduated to the senior squad in 2012.

Indeed...he's done nothing of note and is turning 22 in August. Highly questionable whether he's good enough to be our backup striker and 12 million pounds is laughable.

We need a striker who can also play wing and that has some pace. Austin checks neither of those boxes. No thanks.

I think there is room for both types. Especially if we can offload some of the deadwood.

i agree but his positioning is good, can score, shrewd, 18 goals and 7 assists for qpr. to have him as a sub for Kane would be great in my opinion. i also agree with Hazza, theres room for both

People are determined to find a striker that they think will partner well with Kane despite all the evidence suggesting we will play with a lone striker 95% of the time.

We need someone to backup Kane, not play with him.

Stambouli is to n'jie as Schneiderlin is to martial.

That's a confusing analogy. Perhaps you meant N'jie is to Martial as Stambouli is to Schneiderlin?

That depends on what you are trying to say. Not to be pedantic, but if your point was to say that that the difference in quality between N'jie and Martial is equivalent to the difference between Stambouli and Schneiderlin, then my suggestion works and yours does not. In an analogy, the two things you are trying to draw a distinction between need to be in the very beginning ("[Thing A] is to [Thing B] as...") and then followed up with the 2 known quantities.

Now you know and knowing is half the battle.

4231 to 442 and back is what we used to do under harry, and it worked. were not playing with a second striker because we dont have a second striker. martial or this kid, i dont care. like them both

From a logic standpoint they both work and deliver the same message. One may be clearer to read, but both are logically correct.

We need two. One preferably fast, versatile attacker who will score goals from the wing but can play up top with another or as a lone striker. A Mirallas, Martial, dream scenario Lacazette type player. Someone to give us options if we want to play another way but who can fit into our main style of play.

We also need a backup striker, a like for like with Kane not specifically in terms of playing style but someone who if Kane is out we can bring in and not alter our style of play. A Llorente, Austin type.

One to give us options, one to keep things the way they are.
