Why do people constantly try to link USC players to pay to play? Nothing that Reggie or his parents did in anyway benefited USC, the agents were trying to get him to leave school early, how does that help USC.

The issue was a lack of administrative control. In my mind, every big school cheats. I went to Purdue and I'm sure our basketball program has broken many, many rules. USC was just so popular during the Bush/Leinert run that the spotlight of investigation was bound to fall upon them. Look at all the suspensions this year and you can tell that impropriety is not solely based in socal.

The evidence for lack of institutional control boils down to the NCAA believing the testimony of a convicted felon over USC coaches. The only link that they claim to have between the agents and USC complacency is the alleged phone call between Lake and McNair. Which they have been advised by consul that it wouldn't be admissible in court, and those with knowledge of the tape claim the link isn't solid at all. In talks with alums in the know with the investigation they've told me that the NCAA didn't even take up USC's offer to review phone records in the hearing.

It's not like I don't believe that Reggie got any benefits clearly he did, I just take exception to the notion that the University was involved. What this whole situation comes down to is that the NCAA is trying to protect it's cash cow and decided to make an example out of us so that it would ward off agents trying to get kids to jump ship early. LOIC in my opinion is a harsh punishment for the allegations. Take Florida State for decades it's been accused and found guilty of similar indiscretions and time after time got a slap on the wrist. Florida State was found to be at fault in tutors hired by the school giving test results to students, now that's LOIC, that's a school literally cheating for the benefit of winning games. But in the minds of fans across the country USC is the big bad bully and they think Pete Carrol is smug, wouldn't you be if you won 7 straight Pac-10 titles and 2 National Championships. They don't afford the same criticism to Bobby Bowden, why because he's folksy and talks with a southern drawl.

As I said before USC did not benefit from the Reggie Bush affair, the agent was there to convince him to leave early. No benefits were given till well into his time at USC. With OJ Mayo i'll admit that cant be defended, I hate that bastard Tim Floyd. Basketball is a sespool of shady characters, I say pay the athletes and have NCAA and NFL/NBA controlled pre-agencies. It would only be in the revenue producing sports and as with liquor sales if it's controlled with some guidelines it would drive out shady characters.

    Boiler Up!!!

I take it that you're bandwagon team is Boise State because the majority of their players are from California? I did watch bits of that game last night (first qtr)

Nah I just want to see a small school win it, then in two years put the world back on axis and see the Trojans win #12.

The Boise State-VT game last night was great. I still don't know how I feel about Boise playing in the NC after playing two good teams.

yeah that stadium looks nice. was a real shit of a block it was before that stadium was put in. hopefully the extra 2-3k attendance will help Cards win some more games this year. :)

Another lackluster performance by my Trojans, I was impressed by UVA's ability to tackle in open space though. UVA's coach Mike London runs a similar offense to SC, I hope he does well at Virginia. College football doesn't have a lot of black coaches at the FBS level, so I root for the ones that have jobs, Turner Gil had a great win today also.

As for SC, we can get away with performances like this for the next two games but if we play like this against UW, Oregon, OSU or Zona we'll get smoked. The penalties were crippling almost two touchdowns worth of penalty yardage. I think the best we can hope for this year is 10-3, anything more then 2 losses is unacceptable at SC.

Said in the papers around here he is fine, a couple nights in the hospital and missing this next game (N. Colorado). Need him back for all of big10 play though, and especially against the scum in ann arbor.

YouTube - Raw Video: Mascot's Tussle at Ohio State Game

So this was planned for a long time....the Ohio mascot doesnt even go to the school but he did last year tried out to be the mascot and quit for some reason. So he goes to a nearby community college and went there in the get up and pulled this prank, pretty funny!

Nah I was to pissed watching my Trojans give up 500 yards to a JV squad. Good for Oregon though. IMO they should be ranked higher then Ohio State, the Buckeyes haven't beaten anyone of note. The voters are holding last years Rose Bowl against Oregon but you're not supposed to do that, you have to judge the relative seasons on their own merits. If Ohio State goes to another National Championship game and gets housed by the SEC i'm gonna be pissed. It may sound crazy but I think Oregon could beat Alabama. Oregon's defense just needs to be average and control the run and let their offense do their thing.

HUGE Saturday for us Michiganders. With Denard Robinson (18, 5-0) v. MSU (17, 5-0) this weekend it is the making for one heck of a game. umich will obviously depend solely on Denard Robinson for his big play potential and pray their defense can hold MSU's potent offense. Umich ranks last in pass defense and doesn't fare much better with rush defense. Greg Jones and Eric Gordon will look to shut Denard Robinson down while the MSU's offense will look to stay on the field as long as possible, which effectively shuts down the big play potential of D. Robinson. My prediction, though pretty biased as I go to MSU, is for MSU to win by 10 points. D. Robinson will need to be kept on a tight leash by MSU's defense while MSU's offense will have to execute as they have been doing all season.
