For UK viewers, the Welsh language channel S4C is showing the Croatia - Wales game this evening (kick off 6pm). If you have Sky, it's channel 134. Not sure, but I suspect the commentary may be in Welsh - I guess you can always turn the sound onto 'mute'! :302:

Don't know the team news yet. Do any of our Croatian posters know if Luka is playing?

Shouldn't Luka be on his honey moon? :302:

Think there's only two Spurs players in this game, Bale and Modric?

With a hugely pregnant wife, can't imagine Luka would be getting up to much hanky-panky, even if he WAS on honeymoon! :302:

As for Bale, he's not even in the Welsh squad for this game - he's picked up some kind of knee injury!

I'll stay tuned to this thread to find out if Luka is playing and support the Crotians.

As for Luka's honeymoon, are you aware of a condition called maiesiophilia?

    Ugh!

For poor Vanja's sake, it's just as well her 'little tiger' is in Osijek and busy playing football, isn't it!

Okay, Croatians (or the ones who know) - post the squad and highlights and the injuries. I need to know as I'm about to see the Croatians on Wednesday.

The good news? Luka is playing! :302:

The bad news? S4C's commentary is all in Welsh and their pitch-side reporter is the biggest anorak you've ever seen! :07:

The only words I've understood so far were "Dobar dan" (and that means 'Hello' in Croatian)!!

    Hahaha!

And, because of their adverts, they arrive at the match with 1 minute 20 seconds on the clock!

    Timing is everything, isn't it!

EDIT: If you press the red button, you CAN get English commentary! YAY!!!

I'm enjoying this game. The Croatians have put out quite a strong team - there's only the left back and the guy playing up front with Petric who I've not seen before. I suppose Bilic will make changes in the second half.

    Rakitic's goal was a beauty. Almost Niko-esque!

I was at the game it was ok...nothing special..one question Brum..I Know the difference between English and Scottish,Australian and American but always thought that aren't any differences between Eng - Welsh.???

Oh, almost forgot, I've spooked with my friend who is relative from Modric's wife Vanja and he told me that Luka is a bit scared because he doesn't want to leave Spurs but he think that if Chelsea and Inter make more pressure on Spurs, that we will not be able to keep him. If the money would be bigger then 30 mil euro he's gone. Don't want that.

Huge difference, it's like comparing Croatia with Serbia (bother formerly part of Yugoslavia) but so many differences (language, history etc).

Since Modric is a Levy purchase don';t think he wants to sell him so looks like Modric is a stayer...

OK but there isn't a word of Serbian that Croats Don't understand (same for Bosnian and Montenegro) Slovenia and Macedonia have totally different language.

99.9% of people in Wales speak English, so there is no problem with language, however there are areas of Wales where the indigenous peoples first language is Welsh and English is second.

As far as I'm aware, most Welsh people can speak English.

Not ALL Welsh people can speak Welsh. Those who CAN speak Welsh are very proud of their language and their heritage.

Trust me, the two languages (English and Welsh) are WILDLY different. Welsh is seriously weird!

Like Heroes, I don't think Luka is going anywhere. As a club, we're not so desperate for the money - it's more important to keep our best players for our possible Champions League adventure and, if Luka makes it clear that he wants to stay, I don't think anyone at Spurs will object.

Tpucic, who was your left back (his name sounded like Strinic, or something like that)? Who does he play for? And, in the first half, who was up front with Petric?

Totally different system of spelling, pronunciation etc. For example:

English: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Welsh: Teyrnas Unedig Prydain Fawr a Gogledd Iwerddon

and while we're here, here's the same in

Irish: Ríocht Aontaithe na Breataine Móire agus Thuaisceart Éireann

and, for the hell of it,

Cornish: Ruwvaneth Unys Breten Veur hag Iwerdhon Gledh

Ivan Strinić(1987) is player from Hajduk Split, the only thing Croatia got from this block of preparation, recently he was linked with Lazio. We have hole on LB spot (maybe Bale could married Croatian girl :) ). In first half in front of Petrić was Nikica Jelavić (1985) he plays in Rapid Vienna awesome striker. Brum, now that we are almost certain that Luka is great on CM (as I always knew) do you think that Niko will finally get chance on LM. I like Bale , but I think that he's nothing less dangers on LB then he is on LW. His attacking contribution is the same and didn't saw any lack of defense when he's playing LB instead of BAE. Yeah, Niko likes to go in the middle so we have hole on left side, but there comes Bale. Think that a lot of people don't see Niko's contribution for this season. For me, when Moders was injured Niko was the main reason we kept positive score. And we could count on hand games he played on his favorite position.

And Rudi tnx, i see now...wales language seams more like Netherlands..then English..

I was just questioning myself would UK's team be any better then England's ..But that is question for new topic maybe???

    Thank you!
Strinić and Jelavić were the only two players I had not seen before.

I don't know what Harry's plans are for next season, with regard to our left side. If Bale plays at LB, it would make sense to put Niko in front of him. Personally, I think Bale is better going forward than he is at defending, which then makes it really hard for Niko to get a place in the team. Like you, I think Niko contributed a lot, last season and he surprised me with his versatility, playing wherever he was needed. You never know what's going to happen. Just like last time, someone could get injured, early in the season - and Niko could find himself starting lots of games. But he needs to get himself healthy, strong and fit again first! I hope these repeated ankle injuries aren't going to be an ongoing problem for him.

As for that UK team - right now, I'm not sure that it would be too much stronger than the England team. But, that's just my opinion. :302:

P.S. It's been SO nice to be able to talk about Niko again! I'm missing him badly!
