Latest ITK suggests he's having his medical with us today.

I was very excited by the prospect of signing him last year, then Jan, but he ain't getting any younger. And would that be it as far as our marquee striker was concerned?
If so maybe it'd be slightly dissappointing considering the names being banded about recently. Throw in Leandro though and these 2 up front would have me very excited about the new season!

Guess we'll be unveiling Forlan any minute now then?!

    Been reading over on SC

In response to Forlan Archibald said this

SO, this could be true! I would love Forlan personally, think being back in the EPL and Arry can get teh best out of him for a couple seasons.

i wouldnt mind this signing at all tbh at the price and bearing in mind its often how well a player fits a team rather than latest stats etc. He has a top footballing brain and will really link up well with VDV modric and he also offers at in terms of creating things in and around the box. Could work really well for bale and lennon.

Wouldnt suprise me if he signed suddenly, especially at 7m considering with O'Hara and maybe Wilson sold for around 15m. Not a bad buy at all if you ask me, a real leader.

Wouldn't mind the signing, though it's not exactly the marquee forward we needed - Llorente, Rossi, Drogba. Though in the short term it works.

...that said, was the marquee signing ever announced as a striker?

Not to my knowledge. We can still hope for Charlie Adam or Joe Cole. :y10:

He is desperate to become a legend over here ...... after leaving Man U and going on a "Hey look at this fergie you knob" run in Europe.

All that is left on his list of conquests is to set the record straight in the Prem. Talk about motivation!

If he does come I can see this being a very good thing for us.

Not the marquee signing but ...if more is to come this is a very decent start. Forlan + 1 other fresh & in form striker would be great.

Hold on, so he's having a medical today? I thought all transfers before the window opens are agreed on in principle. I didn't think you're allowed to have a medical with a club before that because technically he's not your player yet.

Ashley young had a medical at utd and tied up the deal within 24 hours yesterday. I think the window is most definitely open now.

Opens July 1st, except for Manchester United, where it opens June 1st.

In England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played. However, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June.

Okay copied this from the wikipedia page.

OK so they can get a medical before July 1st just to be clear? I didn't think you could in the past until the window was officially open.

Young had a medical two days ago, so make of that what you will. I thought the window opened 1st June, but apparently not!

I guess if both clubs have agreed to a deal then a medical is OK, as the buying club would want to make sure everything was OK with the player or look else where.

Guys we signed Modric before July 1st, so that same association rule isn't correct.
Players can be signed before transfer window but they can't join new club untill it's transfer window.
If he really has medical today, that means that clubs have agreed fee, also that we agreed his wages or are close, otherwise he wouldn't come in London. If he isn't signed by sunday this ITK lied imo.
