Real short term thinking. Very unlike for the Levy to agree with this. Still surprised if true.

Good signing imo. We've been after him for a while and he'll be a solid 3rd choice.

I'm surprised but as with Scott Parker, sometimes you just need a signing for right now. Let's hope we can get this over the line before Chelsea react.

If we sign him then Janssen will be off to West Brom and our strikers will be Kane, Llorente and Son.

Sometimes short term is excactly what's needed. If we can get 1 or 2 really good seasons out of Llorente while we transition to the new stadium that would be excactly what we need. It's been glaringly obvious that Janssen isn't good enough at this point (...might never be who knows) to deputy to Kane. Llorente on the other hand is proven at this level and he's very experienced. 15m is peanuts nowadys anyway. We won't find a young talented striker ready to play at this level for 15m in this market.

We're not short on talent and haven't been for a long time but we have been short of experience. We shouldn't look to much at the age of a player as long as he offers something we need.

Dont dispute it, and @Shacklebolt made some good points too. I wont compare Ibra to Llorente, even if they are 4 years apart in their 30s.
Its just uncharacteristic of Spurs to look into this strategy. Im just 50/50 on this, and i cannot put my finger on it..yet. Im worried this wont work out.

Would you rather have a proven goalscorer at the top level or another season of Janssen?

    No-brainer IMO.

Of course, a proven goalscorer, but under the right team shape. What is Llorente going to do? Run around? Pressure high up? Or high, long balls up the pitch? Do you see where i am getting at?

I really like this signing if it comes off, a real Plan B as said above, goes against MP and his ways though.

We have to play to HIS strengths, which will require wide men delivering quality crosses, whether we can provide that is the question.

Can he knock in a decent corner ? How many corners did we have against Burnley, don't think we came close to converting one of them.

Maybe not, but he's a great header. That can't hurt. Without knowing the what he will cost, this could be great. He's been a very productive player in the PL.

Yep, worded it badly, should have said can he convert the corner, reads like I meant can he take the corner. LOL

For those of you suggesting that he won't work in our system, remember that he played some of the most productive years of his career at Athletic Bilbao under Bielsa. I really like this signing if true.

If this one goes through its decent.
15 PL goals last season in a side fighting relegation says it all really when u stand him up against Janssen.
He's pretty mobile for a big fella & is excellent in the air facing either way.
He'll give us a completely new option when we're trying to break down the wall its seems every team are gonna be deploying when they come to Wembley.
Plenty of crossing practise for Rose, Aurier, Tripps, Davies & Eriksen coming up methinks.

I'm kinda on the fence about this one. To be honest, I was hoping for some pace if we bought another forward. I can see what he offers though, and it's good that we can switch our focus with him if thing's aren't working.

If Chelsea wanted him all summer and it displeases (read: pisses off) their fans, then I am all for it. 12M+add-ons for some salt to apply onto their wounds is worth it. You have 11 hours for a panic buy Conte. Assuming we actually steal him of course.

So we buy Llorente for 12 mil plus add ons, sell Jansen to WBA for 23 mil.
An upgrade and a profit from Jansen.

    Hats off Mr Levi

Done Deal £11M +add ons - Harry Hotspur

For that price, I don't see how anyone could complain about this signing really. We could probably still afford to bring in another striker, or keep VJ. Llorente will offer something completely different and perhaps more importantly, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that perhaps this team lacks.

Janssen would never play, no need to keep him when there is big money on the table. Son can be our 3rd choice striker anyway.

Would prefer to loan Janssen out for the season to help him get his feet under him and a lot of games. Then he comes back next year and can actually back up Kane / spell him on occasion.

In a couple year's time (if this transfer happens) we are back to square 1 with no back up to Kane. Should do what Bayern is doing with Sanchez. Get him playing time somewhere so he gets his form back and bring him back into the team so he can contribute.

What if Janssen has another shit season? We have to be pragmatic, for £25m we would be insane to say no. Levy doesn't like to take chances when it comes to selling flops, when the money is on the table he takes it.
