have to say that i find it stupidly boring , i like the cars and i like to know whos won and the current standings etc i would even like to go watch it live but watching it on TV for a couple of hours i cant think of many things that are more boring.

Same as golf and snooker , i love playing but when it comes to watching them on tv its just crap lol

Oh and dont get me started on Tennis

They have messed up the scoring IMO and the credit crunch will see the sport fail and disband.

On that 400 million..... How many premiership games could have been brought for that type of cash?

How much do BSKYB pay? I know they cant buy em all due to the rule on monopolies.

Brawn-Mercedes ( Virgin ) are 1 and 2 Ferrari 7 and 9 , so i was a bit miffed with that post - but maclaren-mercedes are 14 and 15 . which was a shock . Ross Brawn is a top class engineer and he will always produce a great car .

Brilliant for Button -i thought he wasn't going to get a car this season and now he's got probably the best car and one of the best if not the best engineers to boot . That branson guy really does have the midas touch , and yes its made me so much more eager to see tomorrows 1st race .

400mill is a steal. Riv i used to hate watching f1 and golf. However now there is not much more i like then falling in and out of sleep on a sunday afternoon with the golf or f1 on.

Unit they decided not to change the scoring in the end which is good IMO. I am excited about the qualifying today. Wicked day for sports! Gonna be home at 2:15. Watch the wales game. Then the grand prix qualifying. Then the england game. Then the 3rd day of golf. Then off to the pub to get smashed!!

I got up to watch it , Button made a big gap in front but Nakejima crashed in lap 17 - so the safety car came out . The tyres lose their temperature so Button did well to keep control once the race got back under way . As it happens Piquet spun out when it re-started , there was a bit of a battle going on for 2/3 place and Vettel and Kubitza and they ended up wiping each other out in the last couple of laps so it finished under the safety car . I ended up puttin some music on the fav music thread while the safety car was out . So Brawn had 1st and 2nd places

Great race. Button did well and was 'steady'. Best drive easily goes out to hamilton though. The car is 3 seconds slower yet he still managed to finish 3rd. Incredible.

That was what was confusing because Trulli was on the third podium , The commentators said that Hamilton had overtaken whist the safety car was out , but i think they must have got it back to front , . So was Trulli pushed into 12th place because he overtook when the safety car was out .

I thought Trulli did well other than that = cos he started the race from the pit lane and finished 3rd .

So it would seem that both Trulli and Hamilton both drove very good races .

    Yup agree kev.

Basically trulli overtook hamilton when they was behind the safety car. It seemed like an honest mistake so pushing him back to 14th doesn't seem entirely fair.

NickGT did you notice Barrichello getting a bollocking from the main man "Ross Brawn" after he was trying to overtake in the last 2 laps while the safety car was out . That was after the Vettel Vs Kubica wipeout - madness mate

McLaren have been given a suspended three-race ban for misleading stewards at the Australian Grand Prix by motor sport's governing body, the FIA.

The British team admitted five charges of breaching Formula One rules at a special inquiry on Wednesday in Paris.

The penalty will only be enforced upon Lewis Hamilton's team if "further facts emerge" about this incident or if there is a "further breach" of the rules.

The FIA said team boss Martin Whitmarsh had been "open and honest" with them.

A World Motor Sport Council statement read: "Having regard to the open and honest way in which McLaren team principal, Mr Martin Whitmarsh, addressed the WMSC and the change in culture which he made clear has taken place in his organisation, the WMSC decided to suspend the application of the penalty it deems appropriate.

"This will only be applied if further facts emerge regarding the case or if, in the next 12 months, there is a further breach by the team of article 151 c of the International Sporting Code."

The incident towards the end of the season-opening race in Melbourne where world champion Hamilton finished fourth behind Jarno Trulli's Toyota.

Following the race, McLaren accused the Italian of breaking F1 rules by overtaking while the field was under the control of the safety car.

Officials initially handed Trulli a 25-second penalty, promoting Hamilton to third after he and McLaren's long-serving sporting director Dave Ryan gave evidence that the Englishman had not deliberately let the Toyota driver through, and had not been asked by the team to do so.

But McLaren's radio communication contradicted this and Hamilton was later disqualified with Trulli reinstated to third place.

Hamilton, who issued an emotional public apology after the incident, has escaped punishment from the FIA.

After full details were revealed, Ryan was sacked after 35 years with the team and former McLaren principal Ron Dennis moved away from his involvement with F1 - although he insisted it was not related to the incident.
