They're not Weegies. If we get drawn against Rangers or Celtic if we make it to the group stage then we can make those jokes :p

Don't know the exact reason but I'm guessing it comes from their other nickname the Jam Tarts, rhyming slang for Heart. Jam Tarts are sort of maroon-ish so I'm presuming it's that......

Welcome fella. I don't think the result will be as one sided as you think.

    Thanks mate,

Well we'll see depends what sort of side you put out against us. Last season we relied heavily on our wingers bombing forward will be interesting to see how they fair up against opposition like yourselves. Looking forward to the game.

Bearing in mind we have Everton the weekend before the 1st leg, Man United the weekend after the 1st leg (and a few days before the 2nd leg) AND Man City just after the 2nd leg - it will be a complete second string team. Hardly any that start in the Premiership games will play against you - if any.

I have a feeling it will be very similar to the team that we played in a 'reserve friendly' match against Leyton Orient last week, where we lined up:

    ------------Cudicini------------
    Walker-Hutton-Bassong-Rose
    -----------Palacios-------------
    Bentley-----------------Pienaar
    ------------Kranjcar------------
    --------Keane----Crouch-------

Which is still a very strong team with lots of internationals - hence why i think we will win, but it won't be by a very big margin.

That is still a very strong side, we will rely heavily on our wingers i'd imagine with both Andy Driver and David Templeton being very quick and direct, that will be our best chance of scoring using the height of John Sutton or potentially if fit Kevin Kyle.

I'm unsure the shape of our side we usually play 4-2-3-1 but that looks like changing with our new manager.

That was the Leyton Orient team, just think it will be similar to that, not the same. I think Niko will play, Livermore definitely will, not sure about Coulibaly though. As much as I'd like him to I can't see him having any role except off the bench.

I don't see Redknapp playing rose as a left mid again to be honest. I think he is more likely to play Rose LB and then Pienar on the left ahead of him. Rose will play a big part this year in the other competitions and smaller EPL games

Might as well create a bit of chat about our opponents as I for one don't really know to much about them.

Hearts fans, what would a successful season be for you? Further cement 3rd place or looking for a little more? Cheers

We regard ourselves as consistently the best team in the SPL outwith the Old Firm. Looking at stats this certainly seems to be the case and also with regards to support we are probably the 3rd biggest in Scotland going by average gates over the years. Because of this we tend to look at anything less then 3rd or 4th as a failure. This is emphasised by the fact that we probably have the largest wage budget in Scotland outwith the Old Firm (mainly due to Vladimir Romanov the owner, you may have heard of him as he's a bit nuts).

To answer your question I would love Hearts to push on and try and finish higher up the league (it's not completely impossible, Hearts finished 2nd in 2006 and pre-qualified for the champions league at the expense of Rangers), but unfortunately we just don't have the resources that the bigot brothers have over in Glasgow.

Vlad feels that there is a monotony in Scottish Football and is trying to change this (he's not wrong, everything up here is done to pamper the old firm).

    Hi folks,

Another Hearts fan from Edinburgh here, just to say the Jamboskickback has restricted use at the moment, it was under heavy server use due to the change of manager earlier in the week and it's locked to members only just now, I'd imagine it should be back to normal in the next day or so,

    cheers,

Drawing with Rangers on the opening day at Ibrox was a very good result for them but honestly i would be really shocked if hearts beat our second team.

I would imagine team to be something like

    GK Friedal,
DEF Corluka, Kaboul, Bassong (if he is still here)/Dawson, Rose
    MID Townsend, Livermore, Jenas, Pienaar
    ATT MID Kranjcar
    ST Defoe
