Just seen an ITK saying we are in for this lad.

Not really sure why to be honest.

2003–2004 Estudiantes-BA 39 (17)
2004–2005 Genoa 0 (0)
2004–2005 → San Lorenzo (loan) 29 (8)
2005–2007 San Lorenzo 55 (16)
2007– Napoli 122 (35)

None of those stats jump out and say sign me. Also I feel that at 5 8" he would not be the big strong CF we need to play alone up front.

Can anyone else shed any light on this lad?

I see that he has played for the Arges 10 times but so far no goals.

Just watched a couple of clips of him on you tube and I don't think he is right for us.

I feel we are buying a skillful Argie for the sake of it like

Messi = Barca
Tevez = City
Aguero = athletico
Maxi = Liverpool
In fact most top teams have an Argie striker and all I feel are better than this lad.

Lavezzi is more of a Suarez type.. Plays very well with Cavani at Napoli but I don't see him fitting in here. Should be talking to Napoli for that other striker they have, not Lavezzi.

Why not both then if they play well but where does that leave VDV?

I'd take them both in a package deal any day. Not sure if Lavezzi is cut out for the PL with his size but I think he could adapt. And as for VDV I think we'd have to sell him. He isn't a winger, were set at central midfield, and he and Lavezzi can't be switching roles like that. And I don't want to sell VDV.

Yeah, we're after the wrong Napoli striker. Aside from that Lavezzi is decent, I would take him over some of the other strikers being mentioned for a similar price. Dare I say similar to Tevez. So while he isn't a big CF like Fatboy said we need he can be very effective playing off a big CF. He's best in a 4-3-3 formation where he can play on both wings and up front, also serve as cover for VDV. He's basically in the same mold as Gervinho which is why I imagine he's on the shortlist in case we don't get him. There's a reason why he gets call ups to the Argentina squad he's a very versatile player. He's one of those players that offers a lot that doesn't really show up on the stat sheet. He creates a lot of play and with his pace he's deadly on the counter attack.

I'd take him in a heartbeat for the right price.

His goal count might not be high, however he had 14 assists and was a major factor for Napoli this season and he would be used as a RM/RW instead of Lennon. Very pacy, good finisher and can deliver.

Suarez/Tevez... Which ever...

I think you're underrating him. Actually if it wasn't for Tevez he would probably get more caps for Argentina. I don't imagine he's the only striker we're looking for and he's a quality player. He would be a very good buy given our options. I would take him over Osvaldo any day.

So do we see him as a replacement for Lennon then rather than a striker?

I guess you could view it that way. Could be competition for Lennon or a player to be rotated.

He can play as LW/RW/CAM/ST/SS.

I'm sure he'll get his chance now as Tevez would appear to be yesterday's fish and chip wrappings as far the Argentine coach is concerned.

I don't agree with that decision but Batista has them playing well, barca like. If they keep him until 2014 I think they have a shot. How massive would that be if Argentina won a World Cup in Brazil?

He is a good little player however not the sort of player we are looking for. Saw him play against Liverpool earlier this season looked dangerous but like you said 5ft 8in not tall enough for us, unless we went for a big man along side him, preferably not crouch but again 2 up top doesn't really seem to be what harry has been playing recently.

Actually I think he's exactly the type of player our scouts and 'Arry are looking for when you consider the other targets Gervinho and Hazard. Versatile forward thinking players seem to be what our scouts are focusing on at the moment.

Just because we sign this player it doesn't mean we won't pursue a #9 or maybe two if we get Leandro.

He would primarily be our RM with the license to free roam the wings with Bale on either side with the ease of transitioning into a second striker when needed in that case Lennon would be comming of the bench and taking the RM position.

Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent: "I don't know if he'll stay at #Napoli. #Spurs? I know they've been watching him, but I'm not saying anything..."

Never watched the guy, asked a few mates and by what the majority are saying on here, he seems pretty damned decent, with all the positions he can play he would be really good backup or a first teamer, personally, I like Lennon, shame he's only shown glimpses of confidence in taking people on.

One more time before bed, he's a quality player. He would have signed with Liverpool last year if they met Napoli's valuation. With Cavani and CL football I think they feel more flexible.

BlueCrew LA is right. Lavezzi is quality. Don't be fooled by the goal-tally. He'd be a great player to have at the club for his all round play and versatility as he can play anywhere up top in a 4-3-3 or on either side of midfield in a 4-4-2 or in the hole behind the front man. He's 5' 8", yes, but that doesn't make him a midget. There are plenty of players around that size that do well in the Prem, particularly on the flanks. Personally I'd take him over Gervinho or Downing but not Hazard.

I like him. I'd prefer Hazard but yeah he's not a bad player - he wouldn't be out of place at Spurs but he wouldn't be a huge step up either - I think we should be gunning for people who are actually a step up from the already good calibre of player we have, or at least have that potential.

----------Cudicini-----------

Walker--King--Dawson--Ekotto

--------Sandro--Modric----------

---------------VDV----------------
Lavezzi----------------------Bale
-------------Someone-----------

Does not look like a bad line up. Bale and Lavezzi could play a kind of Wide second striker type role. With a top striker (Falcao?) up top to finish off what is served. VDV an link play up well, Modric can do his thing as a box to box midfielder and Sandro can play a more disciplined role alongside him. I think we could play this way very well.

Alright well If he plays in the Rm position I think it would be a good signing. It would also allow us to go back to a 442 if vdv was out, or if we wanted to be less predictable. He would offer more then lennon does on the right flank. Personally i'd say he'd be better on the left, just my opinion.
