jasper with a tiny bit on yedlin: Season loan no good. 3-4 months ok. Apparently we will take a very good look during pre-season before we decide. He will also be tried RM.

    trix:
As things stand Ourselves, Arsenal and Yanited have all declared an interest in signing MS, and both PSG and Citeh have asked to be kept informed of any developments. He is our first choice option, where as it appears he is not for any of the other cubs and they are all actively chasing other options with MS being their plan B. This is what we are hoping is our USP, and it sounds now as if MS and his agent have set a deadline for concrete offers. IE make me an offer or get off the pot. Arsenal I'm told are confident of Vidal and are holding out to make sure he comes through this tournament first.

It is not the case that he has chosen anyone as yet and he has said he wants to wait and weigh up all his options, but it is assumed(by us) that should he get a concrete offer from either of the others he will go there. He is not however willing to hang around for weeks only to be blown out for Vidal for example. Deadline is this week so we are still very much in with a chance, although it is as much in the hands of others as it is in our own.

I think one of JJ's tweets strongly suggests that we want Alderweireld. I'm going to have to copy them again to make my point.

    So this guy asks:

    thisisJME ‏@jamie_d_9 15h15 hours ago
@jetsetyid @danieljohn4 @Adam79Suter what about the Toby and kono rumours truth in any ?

    To which JJ replies:

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid 15h15 hours ago
    @jamie_d_9 @danieljohn4 @Adam79Suter wait and see

So that suggests that there is truth in one of them. However, when someone asks

DJ THFC ‏@danieljohn4 15h15 hours ago
    @jetsetyid @jamie_d_9 @Adam79Suter is kono a target?

    JJ says:

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid 15h15 hours ago
@danieljohn4 @jamie_d_9 @Adam79Suter really dont think so unless something has changed?

Which leaves Alderweireld by process of elimination.

Kono I don't think so. Toby likely is my belief. We went in strong for kono but too complex and difficult is what I was told earlier on. I hope it is a smokescreen. MS I thought was manc bound, but thought agreement with agents in place they have not submitted a formal bid. Told we only ones but terms of bid not agreeable with his club though price met. Have been given and have been permission talking to his people. Next week should be very interesting with this one as we have set a deadline. If still undecided we will move on with other targets. Moses' agents pushing him big time but we have not bid.

trix again on ms/money: Told money is not an issue, we do not have to sell to buy him, and the hold up is purely down to MS making a decision. Cash flow may well affect anything later in the window but not this one.

    Latest from Jasper on SO

Still trying to arrange Rabiot. We want to buy at their price, they want to loan for 12 months. We will only consider if we have option to purchase. At this stage PSG don't want to deal. Truth in Benteke with Ade land, or another player plus cash, they also want Carroll. Kono is not dead but unlikely. Had Salvio not had an injury I think he would of been our player. Not nailed on Yedlin will go out on loan. Preseason will determine as with other players. Belgium 21 year old winger there is truth who plays for Monaco. Will we pay the figures Monaco wants is in question, and no bids have been made, contrary to reports. We have inquired about Turan but though I wish it happened cannot see it myself.

Like yourselves I wish things were clearer rather than thinking players turned us down with loads of info going around. Martial gave his word along with agent, he was to be announced along with Trippier and look what happened. Let's just wait and see now.

Just for context, the second bit was in reply to another poster saying "Alderweireld would be a great signing but we gotta shift Chiriches, Kaboul & Fazio if we sign him".

    Original Post on SO
I see the Mail are linking us with James McCarthy again. Another possible plan B for MS? He cost about 13m for Everton and still has a few years left on his contract. I do like him, quite physical and more defensive minded. Would cost a few quid I guess.

Ari Gold's response (and note the mention of Roger)
I think this is a potential link not to be dismissed.

Pochettino and Mitchell like him, as did everyone at the club before them.

Long term player we've looked at, even verified by Roger Morgan.

Could see this happening, but it'll be down to the player to make clear he wants to leave. Wouldn't surprise me if this is the defensive midfielder we end up with.

EDIT: He'd be far more than £13 million.

JJetset in response to a poster talking about this being an underwhelming window (in early July no less)

    early days BOF early days....
If you are expecting big big names you will be disappointed as its sadly not a market we are in anymore.
If you are expecting up and coming quality prospects with some European & PL experienced players to make us a fast moving pressing top 4 team then you are following the right club.

JJ's response to a post below...
Seems like Rabiot, Martial, Embolo etc are the types of player we're going for then.

Between £5-15m, with high re-sale value, and good potential.

Sounds good to me, I just hope our scouting department study our targets carefully, based around Poch's 'philosophy'.

    JJ's reply

ship has sailed on 2 of them unfortunately but these are the types of players we are going for yes.

We should sticky my previous post about our transfer strategy as it will stop the craziness in here when people think we are in for Messi or competing with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea on players.
This transfer strategy will change once we have 55-60K in our stadium weekly as we will be on a level playing field.
Hold tight as this manager is the one to get us to that point and hopefully beyond

JJ do you still have the same stance in regards to Tony Alderweireld? Sorry I know you've been asked a lot on this recently, but I was just curious as the media are really heating up on it, and it seems he wants to come to us. Also the reports of Levy flying out to Spain...

    JJ's response...

Its not a commercial reason why it wasn't going to happen.
Hopefully it changes but we were pretty resolute on why it wasnt.
Things do change as we all know.
