Look at his name mate...Chingford is in London ( northeast if i'm not mistaken ). I'm not trying to pick hairs i'm just saying.

I also agree with ChingfordSpur and i think you're taking what he's saying in the wrong way... I think it's great that Spurs has such a wide range of International fans from USA, Canada, Singapore, Holland and Australia, just to name a few. However someone who hasn't been to WHL is really missing out on something which they will fall in love with and something which you will resent if it was taken away. In this case, moving to Stratford would break alot of hearts to be brutally honest. Lots of history, memories, value will be lost and for what? A few new seats at a stadium which doesn't relate to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in any way? I myself am from North London also and i've been to countless games at WHL with my dad at a young age but now we've moved up north and i only get to travel to maybe 15 games a season on a good year lol ( away games ). I haven't been to WHL since christmas 2009 and that was only for a weekend visit to my family ( who are also all from London, most of them Wembley to be exact ).

We'll up until they approved the plans there was some anger at the council but now thats its in the hands of the gov't if they give the go ahead it'll be up to the Levy & Co. to decide whether they want to spend 450 million on the NDP or something like 150-200 on the OS.

It'll be whether or not Levy wants to spend the extra cash to have a magnificent stadium in Tottenham or take the cheap option and move the club to Stratford. I think that is what it'll come down to.

Right, I caught that and the questions were rhetorical. I'm just trying to narrow down what some think makes you enough of a fan to comment on this.

Having such a huge fanbase around the world proves the appeal of the club to so many outside of North London, which I think is a credit to not only THFC but to those people who regard themselves as fans where ever you are.
For me we should do everything possible to re-develop WHL and I agree with above we dont need a huge stadium with no atmosphere and plastic fans.

We tried to do that when Sir Alan was with us and it seemed it was going to cost so much money to do. Getting the NDP wont ruin the atmosphere its one of the main concerns Levy addressed with the plans for it

The only reason I don't want the club to move is that we will leave North London to the Woolwich bunch... They will be laughing at us.

    Yes
    Yes
    100's
    Almost all
Loads (why do you want a quiz?)

If you look at my post when have I questioned who or who is not a "real fan"?
I have never questioned that someone has a right to an opinion, what I would question is the validity of that view from someone abroad, or who rarely attends the area/matches.

To reiterate I am not questioning either yours or Steels commitment to Spurs. Although I have read many of Steels views on here and agree with most of them all I am saying is on this subject he and I totally disagree and because he does not come from the area and has not been to many games he may not be in the best position to judge what the feelings are like with the suggested move to East London.

Why do you think there is an action group against the plan? why do you think there is a petition going? and why do you think there is a planned march down the high road before the game against Chelsea??????

I agree with your previous statements. When you read Levy's statements he makes it clear that status quo isn't an option and I agree with him. Reading the latest Spurs financial report I can see why. We are just not generating enough revenue to make staying at WHL a viable option for the future. That's just the harsh reality of modern football and the struggle to stay top 4 in the league. We need NDP!

    what he said ^^^^

i love spurs, lived in tott for many years , am desperate for success, but not at "any" cost would rather stay as we are or maybe expand the lane again,, we have 1 of the best atmospheres in the land... and no disrespect to our fellow yids overseas, i dont think you quite "get" what relocating to another area means

Because people continually fail to grasp what this is all about. Cash! Quan! Money! Or whatever term you choose to use. People that are attending that march may think they are marching to prevent Levy and THFC from moving, which no doubt is a great show of loyalty and solidarity. But it's hard to believe that Levy doesn't know the implications of moving the club to East London. I won't object to Yids choosing to march if that's how they feel the need to express themselves to management.

I will caution you this though, presumably the Levy's goal is to knock down the price of NDP right? Well what's the last thing if your were Spurs management you would want then? To have the leverage switch back over to Haringey. So when you and others show no faith in management and march against them that puts the leverage squarely back on Haringey's side. If I was in their position why would I now give into demands made by THFC, they know the public is blind to seeing their part in this. Where is the march protesting Haringey Council's demands that have contributed to the rising costs of NDP and made THFC consider moving to Olympic? That's were our aggression and anger should be directed. Some of Haringey's demands are ridiculous and hard to argue are related to building a football stadium. That's the real story and if we do move they will be to blame.

The yids that are from abroad on this forum ie BlueCrew, Steel, Stroud Jim, just to name a few off the top of my head to me "get" what a relocation to Stratford would mean. They've read countless posts about what it means to us that have gone to WHL countless times and have family ties to the club.

But I'm going to say it again, if we want to expand as a club, push on, and really be a bigger club than what we already are than we need the NDP. If we dont get that, the OS is what Levy will see as the next best thing to develop the club even more so than what it is.

I understand you dont want success at any cost but if we want top players coming to Spurs, challenging for titles then were going to have to change something and I dont see how staying at WHL will improve that. Getting the NDP will, which is my first choice........but the OS may also give us that chance as well

Blue Crew LA, we have found some common ground on this topic.:y16:

You are spot on if we do move, it will be largely Haringey's fault.

I was trying to find something else to disagree with in your post but couldn't!!:y15:

End the end, while I disagree with your original statement, I see your point. All I'm asking for is for everyone's opinion to be treated equally and debated on their merits. We shouldn't be creating factions inside our fan base, nothing good can come of it.... I'm done now, truce...

But that is my point Spursman, I don't want to be challenging for titles and see top players coming to Spurs if it means moving to Stratford. Tottenham are who I support for the history it has had for 127 years and for the future it will have long after I am gone. But Tottenham is Tottenham cos of who we are and where we come from, if we move to Stratford you are not just moving a stadium you are removing everything that Tottenham Hotspur stands for and has stood for. If that is the case then so be it, just a shame that I, and many thousands of others I am sure, will not be party to it.

I agree with what you're saying, and I too do not want to see the history of the club torn up and moved 6 miles down the road no matter how short a distance that is to Tottenham.

The only positive that I'm saying about the OS is the financial side, its a bittersweet feeling to me as I want to start to challenge for titles and continue to bring in top players and a new stadium is the best way to gain that yet I want to stay in Tottenham. But we are seriously going to have to come to terms with things if we dont get the NDP.......I know Levy has the best interest of the club but I really can see him easily move us if we fail to get the NDP.

Totally agree, if we do want to challenge for titles etc we do need a new stadium and I am sure that most people would agree that NDP is our preferred way forward.

Masochistic though it is I have come to terms with things if we don't get the NDP, I just won't go anymore.

We laugh at Arsenal for their nomadic past and we scoff at Chelsea (for all their recent success) and Man City (for their apparent impending success) not because we are jealous of their money or their titles (City excepted on this point) but because they have not been true to their inherent values.

Up to now we have always held true to our beliefs, in the way we expect our football to be played and also where it should be played. If Levy is happy to throw this away then so be it, there is little if anything any of us can do to prevent it.

He is a man far more intelligent, far more wealthy and successful than me. He can move the stadium and he can rip the heart out of the club once known as Tottenham Hotspur. Many fans will vote with their feet, but I am also not naive enough to think that their will be many more waiting to fill their shoes in a soul less stadium that once hosted an Olympics.

For me that is not the Tottenham Hotspur I know and love and the "prawn sandwich" brigade will be welcome to it.

I'm with Chingfordspur on this. Although not from North London myself, I've fallen in love with the clubs history, values and beliefs. Move to Stratford, and a lot of that has been taken away from the beautiful club we follow.

Haha, you bet! I feel like a kid at Christmas! Yeah, we are gonna head to Cricketers just around 1 if the trains go to plan. I'll give you a bell when we reach Birmingham New Street. Thinking of hitting an earlier train to avoid delays and that.

You know, Brum's mysterious disappearance has strangely coincided with Kranjcar's recent disappearance from the starting XI.
Maybe she got her man after all ;)

Just as a point of reference, i was not taking Chingford's statement to me as an attack. Sorry if my response made it seem like i was taking it as that. However i do know what the atmosphere is like at WHL. I hear it all the time on TV and when listening to other games that don't have as much singing and the like i know how energetic it can be.

I'm all for the club checking out the Stratford option. Even if we end up staying in N17, the fact that we have threatened to go to Stratford means we have finally got Haringey and Lammy to pull their finger out and contribute something to the scheme. Have you seen how they have suddenly panicked and started lobbying for CPO's and public money in the past few weeks, since we applied for the Olympic Stadium? There was no sign of them doing this until now. They are an utter disgrace. It is a shame that the local council and MP have not shown the loyalty towards the club that the club have shown towards the area.

We desperately need (and deserve) a big stadium. I was at the Emirates for the 3-2 and it is embarrassing how much bigger their ground is than ours. If we can get a 60k stadium in Tottenham then fine, I'd be happy with that, but if it is unfeasible/uneconomic then we'd be morons not to look at Stratford. It's not as if we're moving to the other side of London. I've checked on Google Earth and it is only 3.5 miles from the OS to the boundary of Tottenham, which surprised me (most people on the message boards talk about "6 miles" or "9 miles", even Levy thinks its 5 miles). OK its on the "wrong" side of the River Lea, but it is nearer than Wembley which was being talked about at one stage but escaped criticism because it is in "north" London.

If we can "deliver" (as Levy puts it) our stadium for tens of millions of pounds cheaper in Stratford than in Northumberland Park, surely it is a no brainer. This is not a time to put the club in millions of pounds of unnecessary extra debt. It might even be illegal to stay in Tottenham if there is a better deal elsewhere. The club's shareholders might stop it from happening if they see the club doing a bum commercial deal, losing millions for the club, just to please sentimentalists who can't bear to move down the road. I'm playing devil's advocate there but it is a point worth considering.

I'll admit I'm not as attached to Haringey as an area as some of you are (I'm from west London originally). In fact you could say that I support Spurs in spite of them being in N17, not because of it. The area has gone right downhill the last 30 years. I know that for those of you who support Spurs purely because they are your local team the upheaval of moving to Straftord would be very severe, possibly unacceptable for your continued support. For me it would be sad to move, but I would get over it.

Personally I think we will end up staying in N17, but it is a close-run thing, and I think the last couple of messages from the club on the official website seem to be veering towards Stratford.
