Seems I'm outvoted.

I like league cos' I grew up in Campbelltown, NSW, with the Wests Tigers (formerly Western Suburbs). I like the faster pace, I feel a bit more skill comes into play (Benji Maaaaaaarshall!).

Union gets on my nerves sometimes with the amount of penalties and crap.

Agree 'bout the violence though, makes it a bit more interesting. heck, violence is the only reason I'll watch games that don't involve Australia.
Want to nominate the most violent team? I'd vote South Africa, every time I flick on a match with them they're bashing some bloke at the scrum.

I'll go union but league's not too bad, just never really get a chance to watch it.

Played union in school and watch 6 nations and the world cup etc...

Which is the one that isnt that popular and is quicker where when you get dumped on the floor like a sack of sh*t you just get up roll it under your foot and then get smashed onto your arse again.
I like that one.
I tried rugby once..........Its for men who cant play football and have serious identity issues.

They drink oneanothers p*ss and sick. I have seen this with my own eyes.

Its just wrong.

I like league best (of the two) but not particularly bothered.

My Aussie mate (preferred Aussie Rules) called Rugby "sniff bum, then run"

Used to play Union years ago and enjoyed every minute. Even the split lips and black eyes. But the most important bit was the club house sessions after games.

League is miles better its the speed and the skill, Union is ok for power but I cant really see the point in a buch of grown men wrestling on the floor for the ball then after all that they just get the ball and leather it down the field.

Mans game : Beat me in 6 takles for the points
Schoolboys : I'm scared so I'll kick it away

Ha Ha League all the way, Mighty Wigan Warriors

In general, I find;

Union is better to play.

League is better to watch.

And Football is better than Rugby.

Has to be League for me, really don't see the appeal of union? Only thing i'd say union has over league is a better quality of goal kickers. League is more skillful for me, better speed and bigger collisions. If you watch the NRL (Aussie league) there standard is miles better than Super league. Although it would help if i supported a half decent team..

league is more of a northern trend of rugby... I play Union every week and have done since I was 6...

this is the difference of league and union... we play league in training because you don't get injured as much because you don't ruck or maul so there is no chance of getting stamped on...

I like what Ashton has learnt from league and brought into Union though, brings a breath of fresh air to a new look union...

however 100% Union for me league bores the hell out of me, especially when you have to kick to ball away if you get tackled 6 times (i think its 6 lol)

league is for quick players
union is for men

Whilst you might be correct with your statement, I've tried to watch a union game and whys it they hoof the ball down the field without ZERO tackles, instead of running in a open field they decide to kick it down the field to the opposite number? Hardly rugby is it? One other gripe I have with union is, there tactics are very negative, often when having a penalty they refuse to kick into touch and go for a try but they take the 3 points? Maybe if they lowerd the penalty points and DG points to 2pt you made see more open style of rugby and less goals and more tries!

touche......... I don't really like the kicking part of the game, however as I said previously, I like what Chris Ashton has brought into Union with his runs off the ball on the flanks of the number 10, no one knows how to mark him, hopefully this world cup we see Ashton win it for us and everyone will stop trying to be Jonny Wilkinson

Kicking is a major part of union. It's all about territory, possession, making the gain line & scoring.

Yes penalties are a massive part of the game because it's about keeping the score board ticking over.

I love union but I have played both in the army.

league is a bit more respectable in that sense mate

i completely owned this guy in my class when we were having a football/rugby debate, i said to him "name me one person out of the first XV who isn't posh", he couldn't name one, that shut him up for a while!!

woody I went to a University where I played two months in the rugby team before realizing they were more up themselves and what the rugby team gave them for there 'street cred' than about the sport itself...

however my rugby club is amazing a we appreciate good a sportsman and we occasionally watch game of football on the tv... however when I joined my local Football team I was branded with the name 'Egg-Chaser' and ribbed constantly for playing rugby... so tbh mate its 6 of one half a dozen of the other, just depends on where you go

Union's better to play and watch...absolutely no comparison IMO.

But of course, football all the way.
