Here you go guys and gals, for all of you going (of which I am one:y16:) dig out your home shirts and turn the Lane into a fortress.

    Make it a Lilywhite night!

    25 February 2011

    51Share

The crucial second leg of our Champions League, Round of 16 clash with AC Milan is coming up on Wednesday March 9 – and we want to make it a Lilywhite night at the Lane.
Our famous all-Lilywhite strip has been synonymous with the Club’s greatest European nights, and we hope this will be no different.
Wear your white shirts and turn the Lane white to inspire the lads to victory.
If you were at the Lane for our first ever Champions League home fixture against Young Boys back in August and still have your flag from that night, bring it along again too.
The fantastic atmosphere you always create at the Lane has spurred on many a win and we look forward to seeing you there on the night.

Shit that's amazing, but somehow I don't think we will be able to match that at the lane, but who knows I may be wrong

Not likely that's 110k, but what we lack in numbers we make up for in passion and noise. Though Penn State and Beaver Stadium isn't half bad. I've been three times and it's quite the spectacle.

It's usually like that anyway at the Lane in the first few days of the season (in summer) when people wear their lovely new shirts in the warm summer sun :)

By winter you'd think our colours were black and grey judging by what the fans wear! But remember it's also a lot harder in London to go around wearing colours...can be very dangerous.

Look at all the white here, looks brilliant! Would love it if the fans do it for the AC game.

thats on of the only things i hate about the premier league season, you always have to go to games with 10 layers on but you still come home and you cant feel your feet.
there are only ever a few games each season you can go to with only a shirt on, and obviously that still depends on the lovely weather we get in the uk!

At least 9 times out of 10 we get to see some cracking football! Unlike La Liga.

Thing is with that pen state thingy, was that the club put a white t shirt on every seat before kick off. Similar to what we do when we put flags on every seat before big games etc.

Sometimes they do at Penn state but fans come in white every game. With college football in particular fans wear the colors of their school. Often times walking around the campuses you'll see students wearing school colors on non-gamedays.

Maybe we should give away custom spurs sweaters one week. :y7:

I'm thinking of going to White Hart Lane, just to be as close as possible.

I've not had a problem with wearing my shirt in London, though, I am still cautious.

Or hire some cheerleaders :) Not really related but your pic reminded me of one thing the PL could do with!

In response to the points about the weather, just put you Spurs top on over the 10 layers! That's what I do, it's massive anyway :)

Last fall the University of Iowa got creative in calling for a Black and Gold Night. All the season ticket holders got a letter in the mail. Those sitting in even numbered section wore one color, odd numbered section wore the other. The results were pretty cool.

I've never quite comprehended the numbers of fans that College Football gets; 110k is insane.

That must be more than say the New York Jets can fit in to their stadium, surely?

The NFL doesn't really like stadiums over 80K, the Cowboys, Redskins, Giants and Chiefs play 80k+. Contrast with the SEC where 7 stadiums are over 80K.

With the NFL so much revenue is generated that has nothing to do with attendance, so it almost doesn't matter if you have 80K rather then 100K.

The key, really, is just to get word of mouth out. Someone just needs to declare it a "white out" game from the club and people would show up in white...

On top of that the NFL wants games to be sell outs. so having lots of stadiums over that ammount would make it difficult to do that since if the game isn't considered a sell-out then it won't be shown on local TV which as BlueCrew stated is a lot of ad revenue money.
