So it looks as if the signings are complete and of there are any more can't see them gettign a starting place saturday so how do you think Juande will play it?

I think the starting 11 will be:

    Gomes

    Zokora, Dawson, Woodgate, Ekotto

    Bentley, Jenas, Modric, Bale

    Bent, Berbatov

A strong starting 11 for an away game with the option of changes in formation. I know a lot of you will be up in arms that I can't see a starting place for Gio but I think he wil see more home starts than away this season and I'm sure we will see him in the second half, whatever the score. As for Ekotto?, I have a good feeling about him this season, I think he has been a big positive for us pre season.

    Your opinions?

i think this is a reasonably informed choice, the important note is that we need versatility to adapt to the game whilst also continuing as we left off in preseason with confidence and aggression. the only change i would make is one that you had already cited, namely whip Bale into LB and have Gio on the left wing interchanging with bentley to work out where they're most comfortable. as i feel to not play him in our first match might be a bit detrimental to morale of the fans (as he's pretty much a talisman for this season) and i see him as a more effective creator of chances than bale on the wing. :D

That was the tricky decision but just felt that Ramos may feel having bale left midfield may make us a bit stronger as a defensive unit. I will be happy either way.

Is Modric not meant to be out of something? Sorry if he's fit, not keeping up to date with the situation. And why play Berbatov, all he'll do is sulk and stand on the sidelines like an arrogant tosser.

Because he will be signed for back-up if he's signed at all I think may be the reasoning behind it...

He can play at RB,CB,DM I am sure that Ramos will think something, i was watching him last 3 years and I am sure that he is one of best defenders in League, Hutton will stay at his position but i am not sure about Woodgate, injuries messed him up.......:bath:

    Croat.

If King and Woodgate are fit he wont get in the tgeam straigh off before either of them.

He wont push Hutton out of his position either

He will have to be very good whe he gets the chance to force his way into any defencive position. He probably is good enough.

Dont get me wrong this guy would be a great signing and I think in the long run he would succeed King at centre back, where as Woody will be around for a few seasons yet.

As a DM he may get a few opourtunities in the games where our defence needs that little bit more protection.

Things are progressing with the Corluka deal and I have no idea if we will get him or not.

    I hope we will.

I hate to say it but it is highly unlikely that both King and Woodgate will be fit for the whole season so I think Corluka would get many games at the CB spot and as mentioned above DM or wherever our defense needs help

Unfortunately I agree, would love to see King and Woodgate fit for every match.

I would say the predicted lineups are pretty close to what we'll see, not sure about the left side, think I agree GDS will not start and BAE has done well in preseason so he'll get a run out.

    ---------------Gomes
    Zokora----Dawson----Woodgate------BAE
    Bently-----Jenas------Modric---------Bale
    --------Bent-------Berbatov

There's two in mind but I think this is most likely

    ------------------Gomes----------------
    Zokora---Dawson---Woodgate---BAE
    -------------------Jenas----------------
    Bentley-----------Modric----------Bale
    --------------------GDS-----------------
    ------------------- Bent-----------------

Other than that, I can possibly see Bale at LB, and Lennon in LM.

I think it would be called 4-5-1 officially, but on the pitch i'd see Jenas dropping off into a more holding position, and GDS pushing up into the box, in a Ronaldo sort of way.

Well now as Berba is gone I have to agree with Punky and take his suggestion with Lennon

I think he has his place on the bench and a game here or there but I don't think that he's 1st choice

I think O'Hara will turn out to be an immense talent in a couple years time given his young age, but he won't be in the starting XI come Saturday...but definately on the bench. I still believe the Hudd will be ahead of him in the ranks of CM/DM, as Rambo rates him alot based on the contract extension last month. Team to start Sat:

    Gomes
    Zokora Woody King BAE
    Bentley Jenas Modric Bale
    GDS
    Bent

Is BAE good enough? How does everybody rate him? I never paid much attention to him, and if he were lining up with Hutton, Gomes, King and Woodgate I would see him as a weak link. Opinions?

Here is my starting line-up for the match.

    -------------Gomes
    Zokora Woodgate Dawson Bale
    -----------Jenas----Hudd---------
    Bentley------Modric------Giovani
    ---------------Bent----------------

He is yet to win me over. In the competitive games I've seen him play he's allowed wingers too much space by dropping back too far, hence giving them more time that they should have to pick out a delivery, or skin him. Still some work to do there.

I don't really rate BAE that much. Its an OK player rather than a great one. However Rambo/Gus do. The OP asked how we think Rambo will pick the team on saturday. I think he'll stick with BAE/Bale, but as I said in my post, i'd prefer Bale/Lennon.

As for O'Hara. Its a good player trying to get into a great team. He just needs experience and coaching and he'll make it. We can't play him for every game, until full time. He's a definite sub though.

Only seen him play a few times and he looked ok.

Had a good game against Norwich and I think it was his superb cross that bent got his header from. Could be wrong though.

:dito: not to sure about bale playing left midfield, ithink ramos will push modric out left and o'hara or the hud in the middle with JJ.
