Started in a high tempo which makes the difference imo.
I love football, but there are times when you love it that little bit more. Great performance, great result, ain't gonna name individuals, I loved em all in that performance.........COYS!!
Son was immense, and sorry he didn't finish more of them but none were shockers. Point is he could have scored six. And to digress, this is why I feel cheated when our players are committed to too many games. Today we saw the real Son, operating at full strength.
Hard to pick a MOTM. But let's just say that half the players had their best game of the season.
For me, MOTM = Dele
Dele had a great game, that's for sure, but they whole team played so well. It was the most excited I've been this season - no tippy tappy crap, just dazzled them with great energy and excellent football.
A couple of days ago I replied to one of your posts saying that I do so like an optimist. I'll alter that to 'I love an optimist'!
Eriksen CLEAR MOTM! Just saw a replay of his pass to SON. How the hell did he pick SON there? Like a Fifa19 pass. Like he has eyes in his backhead. Thats like the pass for ALLI in FA cup. This dude is unreal. Best passer in the world. period.
So do I, but it's nice to have them both.
Some interesting stats
By far his best game so far, finally
Love hearing the crowd chant his name
Yep! Great for his confidence.
A well-deserved laudatory (and quite hilarious) exegesis of everyone's favorite Spurs midfielder, the baffling Moussa Sissoko:
Moussa Sissoko, Tottenham’s anarcho-syndicalist, many-limbed enigma, weaves Chelsea into his dizzying vortex of chaos | The Independent
Been our most consistently good player for the last month. Would never imagined that 2 months ago - gotta keep it going, he's been fantastic.
...Sissoko MOTM...winning the ball back deep and recycling possession like a beast...
As good a performance as you could wish. Theyre petrified of Dele. I actually thought Kane was MotM. He was unplayable but 1-11 were all superb. We were organised, disciplined, and superior to them.
That front 4 have to be one of the best in Europe on their day.
Errrr, when did we sign this Sissoko guy?.
A lot of MoTM candidates, even Sissoko is in the mix, but gotta go for Alli, completely distrusted Chelsea’s game plan and they couldn’t counter it....big shout to Dier too who put the foul in at the right time and right place every time they threatened to get busy up front.
That is an excellent article.
That was more like it. A bit more quality in front of goal and it would have been 6 or 7. So refreshing to see us getting the ball forward more quickly. No sideways passing to split centre backs from goal kicks. Just Lloris getting the ball up the field and, as a result, us picking up the ball near the halfway line. It's not all about time of possession, it's what you do when you've got it. More of the same, please. COYS.
For sure the best performance of the season for us. The scoreline should’ve been even more dominating. We were the better team the entire 90 minutes. The front 4 finally put it together today and Sissoko was very good behind them. Eriksen MOTM for me but there were many candidates.
Chelsea, on the other hand, must feel dispirited after that abysmal performance and I hope there’s an inquest that creates cracks in their cohesiveness.
Hopefully that international break got a few player’s rested and back from injury and now we can power forward. Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur!
Complete domination from us. It's one of those games where we stepped up to the occasion and just destroyed the opposition. This is what I expect vs. Arsenal as well as all our players are fit, rested, and ready to go.
I wondered if anyone else had noticed that we were not playing the ball out from the back. I'm not sure if that was because of how they were playing or it was a decision on our part. But it was refreshing.
Here's a question. Why isn't man marking a key player used more in football? In basketball it's almost standard practice. Dele on Jorginho worked like a charm. Or maybe it is used and I don't notice it.
Years ago it was more popular, but in today’s game it’s illrelivent 9 times out of 10 as there is so much quality and options available in the forward 3rd of the pitch for teams. Imagine marking Messi out of the game completely, only to find there are 4 other players to contain and you lose a little shape in the process because of targeting Messi....we stopped the supply to Hazard yesterday by closing down Jorginho, Hazard without the ball is basically Jack Wiltshire...luckily Chelsea are actually crap outside of Hazard, think about the fact Giroud is there answer when plan A fails.....
Hopefully more teams see Chelsea’s weakness and let’s see what answers they come up with...
There is a reason City are top of the league, there is a reason Liverpool are second, they have the most quality available to them where it matters, the game these days is simply a case of having more quality players than everyone else, those two have more than everyone else...
What sticks to us is experience, we might still be a young team but it’s a team that has been together for a few years and has togetherness, and that compensates for depth of quality to a point, which is why I honestly think this might be a 3 horse race going into 2019 if we can stick together and believe, but Arsenal is probably another must win game again to back up that theory...
The question I keep asking myself is , Why cant we perform like that in a semi final or even a final .
Bet my life it won't be this easy against Arse. I'd take a draw right now.
Arse will have to play much better than they did today against a poor Bournemouth side.
They always do at the Emirates against us. There's a reason we've only won once there.
That's right. It only works when you can pick out one guy to mark. Still Jorginho was a brilliant choice. The obvious choice would have been Hazard but that probably wouldn't have worked for a variety of reasons. Stopping Jorginho was like cutting off the air for whole team.
