Just read the squad report. Dele (hamstring), Hugo (thigh), Foyth (thigh), and Sissoki (hamstring) are all out. Its possible Sonny may be on the bench, but not certain, according to Poch.
Doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies knowing two of our best are out in this one.

    Vorm
    Trips-Toby-Jan-Rose
    Dier-Dembele
    Lucas-Eriksen-Lamela
    Kane

I hope I'm wrong but i feel its gonna be 2-1 to the bad guys.

I hope Lamela is fit, he'll be perfect for this game. If not we could keep the back 3, have Dier and Demble in the middle and Kane, Eriksen and Lucas up front but for me that isn't going to be enough press.

The club most likely knew all the details regarding what happened that night the morning after it had happened.

There's videos of Hugo with the French team celebrating their WC this week and he's seen running out on the pitch. I'm skeptical about the injury, but I'm not sure it's tied into the situation as a punishment. Poch did say he's going to be ruled out for a couple weeks though, so who really knows

First thing i thought was hes gone into rehab and its being covered up. Not that it would matter anyway but its a huge blow to us.

We are actually significant underdogs for this match according to bookmakers. That surprises me given we are at home.

    Tottenham 32%
    Draw 27%
    Liverpool 41%

Also this Dele injury during a completely meaningless friendly right after the World Cup drives me nuts. I wish national team coaches would use the 6 months after the WC or Euros purely to evaluate new talent, but they're all so afraid of getting fired, they play a lot of their first team anyway.

I wish Lamela was fully fit for this game and ready to start because this is the kind of game he was made for. Liverpool would be crazy not to attack down our right side since Trippier is not a good defender. Lamela could greatly assist there. As is, we should probably play 3 in the back to deal with the barrage of crosses we are likely to face. But Lamela for Sanchez could be a good 2nd half sub. Our attacking players are really going to have to put in a big defensive effort or we are screwed.

Missing Dele is not that bad since Son and Moura have the speed to make them really dangerous on the counter-attack. I know Moura has been playing great, but I would actually start Son in this one, as I think his overall game is more counter-attacky.

I think I'd start with Dier and Winks in midfield and be prepared to sub in Dembele at some point.

Davies and Rose is a bit of a Sophie's choice as neither is playing very well. Rose should be the better choice here given his speed, but he has not been playing up to his ability level so who knows.

Lloris is a big miss for this match.

    Vorm
    Toby Sanchez Vert
    Trippier Dier Winks Rose
    Eriksen Son
    Kane

Winks and Lamela against the best form team so far? :thumb:

We have to play our best available team. Get at them and they'll crumble like last season.

Had to put this somewhere, it shows one of the best goals ever imo, that pass from Toby.... er Ben and the Bale magic is sublime.

Best player in the world IMO. There aren't many who'd agree I don't think. But if he stays healthy this season, with Ronaldo gone, he might get some votes for #1.

I think we can cope without Dele, but Lloris being out again in a big blow. It's hard to find a better back-up goalkeeper than Vorm, but the drop off from Hugo is still pretty significant.

Personally I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1, with Eriksen in the middle of the attacking three, flanked by Lucas Moura and Son. Obviously depending on whether Son is ready.

Maybe my memories of Vorm are foggy, but I don't think he's been less good than Lloris. I'm not sure why that is the consensus. He's missed some saves that he might have made, but Lloris had a couple of howlers last spring, or close to. And no question Vorm is safer with his feet. Against a team like Pool who will press and try to force the ball back to the keeper that's important. Vorm will be better able to turn those moments of panic into a counter when Lloris knocks it straight to Salah. We'll see. After saying this Vorm will probably lose us the game.

He’s definitely less good. The biggest difference is in the sweeper duty. But Lloris is also a superior shot stopper.

Vorm doesn't kick every third ball out of bounds...

But he does let every third shot hit the back of the net

My actual preference would be Gazzaniga, though I'd feel bad to see Vorm demoted. Gazzaniga looks the better of the two, and could turn out to be world class. He's 26 now and won't stay around as third string for much longer.

I have only ever seen Gazzaniga play, in the game last season against Palace, so it's hard to judge whether he's better than Vorm. He played really well in that game, but it's one game.

Saying he can turn world class is an incredible stretch, though haha.

I would take a point right now if offered.

Dier will be key for us in regards to him stopping their counter-attacks.

Have some ambition. Draws are weak and home draws are super weak. Bookmakers have our expected return at 1.2 points.

I’d take not losing by more than 3 lol....Joking aside, I hope it will be the bounce back Spurs who will rip Liverpool a new arsehole after that shambles last time out...
Kane is running on empty, and that’s a problem, so heres a bold statement.....let’s start him on the bench, any takers?
    ......................Whoever’s sober................
    .....Daddy cool.....San-Says........Verts.....
    Tripp’s......................................Rosemary
    ...............Winky......Dier Straights.............
    ....Son of Eric....Lucas Amore...Sonny.....

    im being a realist....

theres not much between our team and theirs, but they might have that early season momentum going in their favor

were also 2/1 dogs at home against them.....since you seem to love what the bookies think.
