We're probably fortunate to be playing a newly promoted team given our injury issues right now.

Looks like Trippier is probably out, and maybe Wanyama.

If Wanyama can play, I think it's

    Lloris
    Dier Toby Vert Davies
    Wanyama Dembele
    Sissoko Eriksen Dele
    Kane

If Wanyama can't play, I think Winks comes into CM and Dembele plays a more DM role.

I am not a fan of Sissoko and would rather see GKN play on the left with Dele moving to the right, but I do not think this is what Poch will do.

It's certainly not an ideal lineup, especially if Wanyama is out.

Hopefully we will sign a new RB post haste and/or Trippier recovers faster than I suspect he will because this lineup is not the one we want facing Chelsea. A real RB lets us move Dier to CB and get Sissoko off the pitch which will make us a much better team.

Physioroom shows both - Vic and Kirean as "slight doubt".
I am optimistic. I see us starting with our good 'ol...

    --------------Lloris---------------
    Trips-Toby-Dier-Jan-Davies
    ------Wanyama-Dembele----
    ------Eriksen-------Alli---------
    ---------------Kane--------------

... and shred them to pieces.
Kane scores with the 1st shot of the game and this "Kane has not scored in EPL goal in August" bs will end!

So - early goal -> control the game -> score few more -> send the pointless wannabes to releation -> they will stay there for all 38 rounds. Sounds like a plan, doesnt it :) ?

During preseason we played ONLY very serious opponents - the weakest team we played was Man City who finished 3rd after us last season! That ought to have been good series of games for our guys... on top of that - games with champions of Italy and 2nd places of Serie A and Ligue 1! Also our main men - Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Toby, Jan, Dembele seem to be in sharp form, it is just nice to see :).

COYS! Let's get this new season rolling in style!

With the current injuries to key players, I think we'll see the below:

    ------------------Lloris------------------
    ---Dier----Toby-----Vert----Davies---
    ----------Winks-----Demblele---------
    ---Sissoko-----Dele------Eriksen---
    ------------------Kane------------------

I'm hoping Trips & Wanyama are back but I very much doubt it, I'm also hoping Sissoko has one of those FREAK games against his former club & plays out of his skin (although I doubt that too)

    Bench:

    Vorm
    Wimmer
    KWP
    Son (Maybe)
    Wanyama (Maybe)
    GKN
    Janssen

Without Son & Wanyama on the bench it looks terrible, fingers crossed for a 2-1 win ..... COYS !!!!

Poch will show the waiter how it's done, switching our stye and formation for an easy win

    --------------------Lloris--------------------
    Dier------Toby----------Jan-------Davies
    Winks----------Dembele---------Eriksen
    Janssen-----------Kane---------------Alli

Bring on Sissoko in the 93rd for kicks.

We finished 3rd then 2nd & hopefully this time around its going to be 1st so by that adage an opening day defeat 2 seasons ago followed by a draw at Goodison last season means we are going to win this one.
I don't really know why tbh but I've a hunch Poch will go 3-4-3 here & the team will be..........
    ..............................................Lloris
    ...........Dier.............................Toby...............................Jan
    Sissoko................Wanyama...............Dembele................Davies
    ........Eriksen...........................Kane...............................Dele

If Victorious doesn't make it Wimmer plays in the back 3 & Dier moves to DM.
As an aside I'm over in the big apple this coming weekend & will be at Flannery's bar in Manhattan on Sunday morning with my son to watch this one with the NY Spurs lads. If any of u guys here are gonna be their I look forward to meeting u.
    3pts please.
    FORWARD WITH THE SPURS!!!

Enjoy Flannerys! I'll be watching in out in Jersey so I won't be able to make it, but hopefully Spurs help make your time in New York enjoyable!

    I am going with 4 - 2 - 3 - 1
Dont see how we can scope a 3 man defense with a thin squad at the moment.

    Dier - Toby - Vert - Davies
    Winks - Dembele
    Sissoko - Eriksen - Dele
    Kane

So who is left on the bench, if son, rose and wanyama is still injured?
    Christ.

    From Ben Pearce on facebook:

In the meantime, Pochettino faces a selection dilemma at right-back, given Kyle Walker has been sold and Kieran Trippier is out of action with an ankle injury.
Eric Dier could fill in, but Spurs’ manager is considering other options - 20-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters could make his first competitive appearance for the Lilywhites, while Moussa Sissoko may start against his former club.
“We have two possibilities – one, to play with three at the back, another to use the back four,” said Pochettino. “[We can choose] different players, like to use Kyle Walker-Peters in the back four, or with three - Moussa Sissoko if we play with wing-backs.
“We have ahead another training session tomorrow and then to decide what we think will be the best set-up for Sunday.”

    Lloris
    Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies
    Wanyama, Demeble
    Sissoko, Alli, Eriksen
    Kane

Vorm, Wimmer, Walker-Peters, Winks, Son, Edwards, Janssen

I struggled to fill the bench with attacking options so I picked Edwards over CCV.

“We have different possibilities to play, different set-ups,” he said. “One possibility is to play with three at the back, another is to play with a back four with Kyle Walker-Peters (in what is) a natural position for him.
“He was good against Juventus but if we play with wing-backs and a player like Moussa Sissoko… we are waiting until the last day to decide. I’m sure that one way or another it will go well.”

I am actually very intrigued to see a back 3 and Sissoko and Davies at Wing Back. Good to see Son can come off the bench.

I dont expect Wanyama or Son to start. I would start Walker-Peters and have Dier shade to that side in defense to help out. You can also play Sissoko in front of him for more protection if necessary.

If we play with a back 3 as you seem to be indicating, there'd be no reason to play Sissoko, as there's only 2 AMs/Wingers in that lineup and they'd be Eriksen and Dele.

If we were going to play a back 3, I think the most reasonable approach would be Vert, Wimmer, and Toby. Then play Dier at RB.

For me, the priorities, in order, are:

    1) Don't play Sissoko at RB
    2) Don't play KWP
    3) Don't play Sissoko at all

So from that vantage point, I start with both Wanyama and Son being ready to start. In that case, the lineup is easy:

    Lloris
    Dier Toby Jan Davies
    Wanyama Dembele
    Son Eriksen Dele
    Kane

OK, now what if Wanyama is ready to start but Son isn't. For me, the best lineup (based on my priorities) would become

    Lloris
    Toby Wimmer Jan
    Dier Wanyama Dembele Davies
    Eriksen Dele
    Kane

    Unfortunately, I expect we'd see

    Lloris
    Dier Toby Jan Davies
    Wanyama Dembele
    Sissoko Eriksen Dele
    Kane

What if Son can start but Wanyama can't? Then it's definitely

    Lloris
    Dier Toby Jan Davies
    Dembele Winks
    Son Eriksen Dele
    Kane

And if neither Son nor Wanyama is ready to start? Then I think the best lineup is

    Lloris
    Toby Wimmer Jan
    Dier Dembele Winks Davies
    Eriksen Dele
    Kane

But sadly I think we'd see

    Lloris
    Dier Toby Jan Davies
    Dembele Winks
    Sissoko Eriksen Dele
    Kane

I think he knows they are available, the questions are is Wanyama really 100% and does Son have enough conditioning to play the full 90.

Poch has often been cautious bringing people back from injury, bringing them on as subs first.

You all may think i am crazy, but I would play (assuming neither Wanyama nor Son are starting due to fitness)

    Lloris

    Dier Toby Vert

    Sissoko Winks Dembele Davies

    Eriksen Dele

    Kane

4-2-3-1 to provide the necessary support. Dier in midfield and Sissoko as RAM.
