We go again (wow, the games are coming thick and fast now), and luckily this is the last match before the International Break. The boys need a rest!

That said, I think we have a good chance in this one. Palace is always a banana peel, but I think Spurs as a team are less naive than we were earlier in the season. Grittier and maybe with a little wind at our backs.

    Lloris
    Trips - Sanchez - Toby - Davies
    Sissoko - Winks
    Lamela - Eriksen - Dele
    Kane

    1-3 SPURS

Don't give Zaha or Townsend any space in the final 3rd. Palace will look to exploit Spurs weakness at defending set pieces. They have 1 point in 6 games (against Arsenal) and this should be a walk in the park for Spurs.

I prefer Aurier over Trippier to deal with Zaha.

Alli looked tired in the 2nd half vs PSV and I can't see him starting. Hopefully he may be rested and not sent off the pick up an inevitable injury during the international break.

    Hugo
    Aurier - Sanchez - Toby - Davies
    Sissoko - Winks
    Lucas - Lamela - Son
    Kane

Llorente, Eriksen and Alli on the bench if we really need a goal come the 65 minute mark.

    0-2 Spurs (Kane, Lamela)

Dier and Wanyama are both fit so I would expect Dier to start alongside Winks, maybe bring Wanyama on for Dier after a 60 mniutes. No need for Sissoko.

I cant see Sissoko not playing tbh mate. Hes done alright lately. Id go with your suggestion but i think Sissoko will play.

This lot are worse at defending crosses and set pieces than us. Id like to see Llorente start for once.

Theres a few players who need to seriously up their game as well. Eriksen the main one. Son hasnt really got going yet and Davies is nowhere near last season. Toby another whose a bit off it.

I like it, but I bet Trips gets the start over Aurier

I really do NOT want to see Aurier against Zaha. He'll be sent off for sure. We'll find a way to grind this out in our newfangled fashion. 1-2 Mighty Spurs. Dier, Townsend, Toby.

Our best players get no rest with their national teams. hopefully those that have friendlies get rested, cant see the league of nations games putting out the second best team though

At this point in the season, after the world cup, players need to have some loyalty to the team that pays them the big money. All of the players that were called up can politely tell their national teams that they aren't going to play, and thats exactly what they should do.

Edit: I'd add that FIFA should probably have some decency to let the players have a break instead of having meaningless tournaments, and the national teams should stop having pointless friendlies when all they are is a money making ploy by the national teams.

Likewise EPL clubs such as this one, could stop travelling to far flung destinations in the close season, to take part in futile competitions designed purely to make money, but with no benefit to tired players, it works both ways .
FIFA are intent on increasing the number of teams in the WC finals, the simple fact is ,there is too much football , and the demands on players is too great in order for them to perform at their best imo, and I dont see things changing any time soon.

I agree to a point, but when a team is paying you 10 million a year, I feel like they can ask you to go wherever they want. That doesn't mean its smart though.

These players are probably too young to know whats good for them. If they did they'd say. "call me when it's important". Playing all these friendly international games does not actually make selection for the World Cup more likely, because it makes them more likely to be injured and less likely to be in form and have a strong overall career. If Kane, for example, is England's best striker come World Cup summer he'll be selected no matter what. He doesn't need to keep showing up to lock in his place. The players are just being bullied.

I'm also fairly certain that if they did then when it comes time to select players for an important game the coach will remember "Oh yeah. That player isn't committed to the team" and the fans will remember "Oh yeah, what a selfish prig. We want players that will bleed for the flag." In the US playing for your country is an honor you don't generally turn down. MLS runs what, March through November? They lose their best players for an entire month when the World Cup/Gold Cup comes along. But they deal with it. That said the US coach will often not select European based players for useless games played in the US if it interferes with something important, which I'm sure the clubs appreciate. This time we're playing in Europe so I'm sure the European players will all be called up.

Now if a player is battling fitness issues then that is generally an exception. Was it Liverpool or City that had half their players "injured" and couldn't participate in national service in October? Kenya keeps calling up Wanyama even though he's not 100% and the club can't stop them. That's an instance where I'd support him telling them to F off. Let me heal.

Don't think so, I think Poch wants Foyth to get game time. Can't possibly give up 3 penalties right? :D

Well England as a nation and governing body, have shamed themselves. The USA game is an embarrassment. Its now some sort of Wayne Rooney suck up charity thing. Nobody who plays should be awarded a cap. Football is a fuckin joke at times.

Have we seen the Sissoko/Wanyama pairing in the middle before? Looks a, shall we say combative choice on paper.

That must be the case then, does Davies become our emergency CB if one of Foyth or Toby go down?

Also why is Foyth on the right? Is he not left footed?
