I think we will probably see:

    Lloris
    Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen
    Aurier Winks Dier Eriksen Trippier
    Kane Son

I hope we line up like this the only issues is Trippier on the left.. And even then he struggles against fast pacey wingers. this is where we miss Rose.. badly!

Only thing i can think of is if Trippier is left back the left winger will be more defensive in a sense of maybe tracking back more and protecting the lb more, All depends on the formation but if that was the case i'd imagine a 4 2 3 1 with maybe Son lw? tracking back.

So this is more or less the biggest game we've played in this Spurs era. I'm shitscared and excited at the same time. Coming up against Real Madrid at this stage in the tournament is unfortunate but I really feel we should take some time and just appreciate how far we've come. When I read the papers and talk to football enthusiasts this is match is one of the higlights of the group stages and arguably considered Real Madrids "toughest" match so far.

I'd be over the moon with a draw. Snatching a win agaisnt Real Madrid at Bernabéu would be surreal.

If Trippier is playing on the left, I expect it will be was a WB with 3 at the back in a 3-4-2-1. If we play 4 at the back, Jan will probably play left back. No doubt, we are somewhat handicapped by the injuries but can still put out a stronger team than we did in CL last year.

Let’s not go crazy tactics with Son and we’r good!!!!.......sticking with my 3-1 Spurs Win prediction here.....2 up early doors, they pull one back and we nail it on the break.....Eriksen, Kane, Son!!!!!!

I feel like we will go 4-2-3-1 with Jan on the left. Can't see Poch throwing Trips on the left in this big of a game. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we park the bus and try and hit them on the counter. With Navas being out I think we could get a couple of goals in this one.

No way Winks and Dier , if not Dembele then either Sissoko or Eriksen next to Dier which again only because Wanyama injured.
Tripps can't play on the left.

What's up with Davies? If he's not fit for this one, I'd play Vertonghen on the left in a back 4. Don't want to see Trippier there.

    Lloris
    Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen
    Trippier Winks Dier Aurier
    Eriksen Son
    Kane

If we had a full weeks rest and all our players available I'd like our chances. As is we are really up against it.

I read somewhere that Pochettino would have a surprise starter. Who would that be?

BTW, just saw that GKN is out with a head injury.

Surely we will try to play for the counter. It would be suicidal to try any other strategy. Hey, it worked against Dortmund so you never know. If Madrid scores first we’re in big trouble though.

I do think we are playing them at a weak moment. I just hope we can come up with big effort from a our somewhat depleted squad.

If we can beat Bournemouth at Wembley, then we can certainly handle a La Liga side in a cup competition.

    ---------------------Lloris---------------------
    Aurier-------Toby--------Sanchez----Vert
    -------------Dier---------Winks-------------
    Sissoko----------Eriksen--------------Son
    ----------------------Kane---------------------

Don't really want a back 4, but i don't know if giving KWP a start at Real is the most sound idea. Coulda really used Dembele and Wanyama for this one. I can't believe that Dembele and Rose are actually fit. maybe i will be surprised. I don't really want to start Sissoko either but I don't see another option. My god, Winks and Dier might get destroyed. Or will they? Regardless, predicting an 0-3 for the Mighty Spurs. COYS!

I suspect that this is a gentleman's lie. Pochettino has shown that he will sow misinformation before a game. I don't know what advantage it gives him in this case but I don't think that Rose will play or even be on the bench.

I hate to say it, because he's a great player under Poch, but why should he even be on the bench? He apparently wants out, to play for Manure.
Not unless, Poch thinks by taking him, it might persuade him to stay. Depends if we win or not, I suppose.

I reckon Vertonghen would make a great left wing back but wouldnt want to disturb the centre of defence.

A win here should see us through. We have the players. Rose isnt my fave at the moment but if Davies is out, Rose has to play.

Without having played for 8 months, to start against RM? I think he'd have a dreadful day and get reinjured too. Maybe but it would be a first for Pochettino I think. KWP would stand a better chance. We're in a tight spot there and I don't see a great solution. Vertonghen is out best choice, but that means playing with two CBs, which means that Trippier is going to get torched. We could play a back three with Dier, but he hasn't been doing that this season and we need him as a midfielder anyway.

I think the best choice is to play Aurier at LB and play Son ahead of him for width.

Big positional headache for Poch with Dele banned, Wanyama injured, Rose still not quite fit, and Son not impressing as a starter.

Rather than play Trips out of position on the left (which didn't work the first time around, IMO), I'd do something like the following, leaving Sonny to come on as an impact sub once RM's defense is softened up:

    Lloris
    Toby - Sanchez - Vert
    Aurier - Dier - Dembele - Winks
    Eriksen - Sissoko
    Kane

Interesting thought, but is there any reason to suspect that Winks can play LB? I'd be more inclined to play KWP. At least he's done it.
