Any one get a chance to watch the Debate, where Merson and Bellamy go at it over Spurs?

Bellamy makes some great points, mostly on so many Spurs players have had little rest and zero pre-season since the WC and it’s only natural they are not performing to the highest standard after 4 games...
But that prick Merson makes a good argument too, about mentality and the lack of new signings meaning we couldn’t leave out any WC player, where as other teams could...both fair points to be fair.

It's a decent programme sometimes. Last night, though, was a complete train wreck. Two of the biggest bellends ever. Tony Adams and Stuart Pearce. Especially Adams. I've no idea what he was going on about. He never shut up.

I think this WC stuff is a convenient excuse for players. If anything the Spurs players should be on a high after doing well. The fact is that the team let down themselves and the supporters. Fannying around in the first half and then just capitulating in the second. It was a poor show - no excuses.

    Ahh Philosophy....It’s all mind games:eek:
The big debate on talk sport drive was are Spurs really a big club?
It’s really devided the opinion on the Spurs Facebook community, one side can never say a negative thing about Spurs, the other agree with the comments of the show (we are not actually a big club)
    Thoughts?

If Spurs aren't a "big" club, who is? Are we saying there are only five? Four? Where do we draw the line? Everton? Palace? Newcastle?

They were talking Worldwide, taking European cups/CL’s, Domestic League titles, Spending power into it etc etc....”No way Spurs can class themselves as a big club, a club who shake to their very foundations when trying to buy a player over 50m. They once were regarded as a cup team, they aren’t even that anymore, it’s 27 years since they won the FA cup, 57 since a league title, no, they are not a “big” club, they are a decent club doing well punching above their weight.”
All to get an argument going on radio of course, but it has a element of truth in it if you don’t support Spurs, if you do support Spurs then it’s total garbage of course.

It’s a silly discussion because there’s no hard line between big clubs and small clubs. We are surely in the top 20 clubs in the world in terms of bigness—that’s pretty big. But we obviously don’t have the resources of Barca or Man City or Bayern Munich.

We’re big enough and well run enough that we are a semi-legitimate PL title contender, which is nice.

The term 'big club' is usually reserved for those that win major trophies , however it now seems more to do with how much revenue the club attains , which means fook all to me.

There's a big relationship between the two though. That's the first thing I noticed when I started watching European football. The long term success of a team is all about money.
