Reports in L'Equipe claim we are on the verge of signing Aurier from PSG. They say his club are prepared to let him leave and that we have already agreed terms with the player, leaving just the fee to be thrashed out.

Interesting. There's no question that Aurier would be a top signing and a more than adequate replacement for Walker. However, he does come with some drawbacks. He has had more than his fair share of controversy whilst at Paris and, if I'm not mistaken, was even banned from entering the UK at 1 point! How that would work out with an English club signing him I am unsure but, more to the point, it all seems very unlike Pochettino to be after a player with such a history of rocking the boat.

Poch famously turned his back on Berahino after his antics at WBA, and he has done nothing compared with Aurier. Sure, Berahino is not remotely comparable to Aurier as a player, so maybe Poch is prepared to make concessions to land a world-class full back, or maybe Poch thinks Aurier is maturing and can be controlled.

Regardless, if we do land Aurier and can get him to focus on football and stop causing trouble, we'd have a superstar and, at just 24, a player who is still yet to hit his peak

Can't see it happening. Sounds like the club leaking info to take away from other targets were trying to sign

It would be a slap in the face to Trippier and KWP. Even if it strengthens the team I'm not sure it would be a good move in the long run. It sends a bad message.

It's definitely not a slap in the face of Trippier, who should've been expecting us to sign another fullback all along.

Whether it's a slap in the face of KWP, I couldn't care less.

All signings that improve the team are a slap in the face of someone.

My concern with Aurier is he's an ass, and I don't think our locker room can handle that right now.

That Aurier is a ass is what I meant. Someone else and it would be a different story.

going into CL with trippier and KWP is a bit of a worry...someone experienced at that level would actually improve our chances of progressing

Well, Spurs have come out and denied we've agreed anything with Aurier. I must admit, it sounded suspicious given Poch's record with trouble-makers. It's got to be agents talking up their player, trying to make a guy whose caused numerous problems sound like he's in high demand. In a way it is a shame as he is an excellent player, but it means nothing if his character is so flawed.

Well, supposedly we've denied agreeing anything with Aurier. It did sound suspicious as Poch is well known for not pursuing trouble-makers and Aurier is the king of trouble. It must be agents, who must know everyone has reservations over Aurier's temperament, trying to make their player sound in demand and popular. It's all a little sad to be honest as he is a great player but that means nothing if his character is so flawed. That said, he's perfect for Chelsea

Fantastic player, but a million miles away from a Poch type player. I can't see this happening.

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign right-back Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain, but must wait on a court ruling before they can complete the deal, according to L’Equipe.

The 24-year-old, tipped to replace Kyle Walker, is currently banned from entering the UK after being given a two-year suspended sentence for attacking a police officer in 2016.

The Ivory Coast international has appealed, but the outcome may not be known before the transfer window shuts.

Maybe our Davinson move would be dependent on his outcome ? Maybe Levy would fork out the extra 10mil and seal the Ajax deal if Aurier is not available

Davinson and Aurier would add much needed pace into our back line. I hate the idea of pressing high on the Wembley pitch without anyone with the pace to get back and cover. Walker was so good at that. It's the stand out feature of Davinson on his highlight vids. Aurier has some pace also.

Aurier (if Poch can reign him in), Davinson, and an outfield player, it'd be a wonderful transfer season. I'm knocking on wood as I say this because none of them are confirmed, but contrast this with where we were even just 2 weeks ago...

There you go Rose. You got your wish. Now shut your yapper and heal.

It's a huge risk because this guy is a mentalist. He's a very good athlete and would be a good replacement for Walker but Poch must think very carefully over it, I know he likes players with a edge but Aurier has issues off the pitch and a big mouth. He took Dani Osvaldo to Saints and it was a complete disaster, this guy is cut from the same cloth. I just can't see it.
