Pretty excited about the summer ahead after rumors of Pochettino and Levy having “positive” talks, whatever that means, but we’ll assume for now it means some aggressive cash for Pochettino to fine tune this already consistent squad, top 3 three years on the spin does scream consistent. No better time to take those risks Pochettino talks about, and if Levy ever needed a reason to listen to his manager he needs to look no further than Arsenal, and how “not” taking those risks has derailed that club, well for now anyway. Their fans have watched a strong “consistant” squad challenging for titles dismantle year after year over the past decade or more whilst not replacing them players with equal or better quality, instead opting for the cheaper bargain purchase, with the odd desperate expensive buy thrown in now and then to appease fan unrest. In all honesty them moving to their new stadium along with the majority of successful players should have made them one of the most dominate sides in the country, along with Utd, while City and Chelsea would be throwing money out hand over fist just to keep pace, and Liverpool and Spurs just fighting it out in the hope of the occasional season in the champions league and maybe a cup or two to show for their efforts. This squad of ours has accumulated more points over the past 4 seasons than just about any other team, and yes there obviously hasn’t been a throphy to show for it, but we are not that far away. When you are as consistent as we have been for 3 or 4 years it tells you this, make a few good decisions and the odds can stack in your favor, make a few bad ones and it’s down hill, like Arsenal....I honestly believe Pochettino has taking us a far as he can with what he has to work with, and he knows that too. He’s a loyal man, he’s a proud man, but he is also an ambitious man, and he knows his stock is high right now, but keeping us in the top 4 will get harder year after year, plus just finishing top 4 will not be enough to appease this ambitious man, he wants titles, not just cups but titles. I have never heard any Spurs manager in the premier league era put Spurs and title in the same sentence, this man has, and more importantly he believes it....So if rumors are true, and Levy will back his man then this summer may not be the usual debates over buying big fish from little ponds but buying big fish from big ponds...exciting times ahead, maybe!!
