That's either 38 players or 23 if you only count over 21s. Isn't the Europa League Squad 25? What's the source for this?

Anyway, I think we can make changes before the group stage so I wouldn't read too much into it.

As far as I know under 21 players don't actually need to be registered...but that might just be the football manager game lying to me

I see. That site makes it a little clearer who's on list A (the squad restricted to 25 players) and who's on list B (unrestricted numbers but must have been born after 01/01/1990 and been at the club for two years). Clarifications from here: http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/Regulations/competitions/Regulations/01/62/69/60/1626960_DOWNLOAD.pdf

As a side note, for those who concern themselves with such things, we can register three more players for list A if we make it to the round of 32 but they can't have played in the Europa League at all or in the Champions League at all.

    To clarify Boo Wills' list:

    List A - 25 PlayersHeurelho Gomes BRA 15/02/1981 30
    Carlo Cudicini ITA 06/09/1973 37
    Brad Friedel USA 18/05/1971 40

    Robbie Keane IRL 08/07/1980 31
    Peter Crouch ENG 30/01/1981 30
    Jermain Defoe ENG 07/10/1982 28

    List B - 13 Players

    Jordan Archer ENG 12/04/1993 18

    Adam Smith ENG 29/04/1991 20
    Callum Tapping SCO 05/06/1993 18
    Jesse Waller-Lassen GER 26/12/1992 18

    Kudos Oyenuga ENG 18/03/1993 18

    Cameron Lancaster ENG 05/11/1992 18
    Alex Pritchard ENG 03/05/1993 18

This means that we will categorically not be seeing Coulibaly before the round of 32, nor Ceballos. Because neither has been here two years they would have taken a place in the squad of 25 (though why Keane is in there I have no idea, surely Coulibaly would have been a better choice than that). It definitely spells the end for Bentley and Gio too, surely, as there's no room for them. Also, note no William Gallas and no Steven Pienaar? It would imply to me that Bassong, at least, is not going to be sold this summer if he's in the squad ahead of Gallas.

For those wondering what the squad we might put out against Hearts in the home leg could look like I would suggest the following (injuries permitting) is as radical as we will see:

    GK - Cuducini

RB - Hutton (if he's still here)
    CB - Bassong
    CB - Dawson
    LB - Rose

    RM - Townsend
    CM - Jenas
    CM - Livermore
    LM - Kranjcar

    ST - Kane
    ST - Pavlyuchenko

Many of the List B players are out on loan at the moment and, I suspect, the ones who aren't aren't because they're not good enough/ready yet (with the exception of a couple like Townsend and Kane). I know we all want to see the kids but I don't think we'll see any more than the three in that line-up above except maybe from the bench.

    Interesting to see no Sandro.

In fact, worrying. His injury can't be looking good :(

There are a few 'first-teamers' missing from the list (Gallas and Sandro being two mentioned already). I imagine they're missing because Harry wants to play the second string/youth as much as possible so he's picked the big names that were available and then the fringe/youth players. To include all of our first team would limit the number of spaces available for the fringe players. Though it may leave us a little short if we sell a lot of the likes of Hutton, Jenas, Palacios, Crouch, Pav etc.
