would it work? for example; once a month, they meet for a couple of days, to learn formations and tactics, light training?

this, instead of most but not all, friendlies.

In theory it would help, but what if they got a knock?

A minefield that the FA wouldn't dare step into. The dont have the bollox for it and they are so afraid of upsetting the Premier League it is pathetic. Spoze money talks.

I would imagine the moment one of Uniteds super brats gets a season long injury the lawyers would be on it like Gin and Tonic.

It seems cheaper though, from what I can gather? Beckham trained at the Lodge but, his insurance 'to play', was another contract issue. Maybe this is the same when most of the 'friendly' games are played, in that the insurance clause takes a triple turn somewhere along the line. Dunno to be honest, what 'playing' vs 'training' even means in that sense.

After what happened at the World Cup when Heskey fooked up Ferdinand in some set piece training, I'm afraid they won't be able to do that . . . .
