I was thinking who we should play for our EL tour and this is what I came up with:

    GK Cudicini
    RB Hutton
    CB Bassong
    CB ???
    RB Rose
    RW Townsend
    CM Livermore
    CM Jenas
    RW Pienaar
    CF Coulibaly
    CF Kane

Bit stuck on the 2nd CB, would have been Caulker and Khumalo pairing if they were not both out on loan. I also would think Townsend and Kane may end up out on loan also, which would mean we would have to play some first XI!

    Cud
    Kyle
    Bass
    Kaboul
    Rose

Midfielers will be like: Sandro, Niko, townsend, Livermore, Pienaar, Bentley

    Up front: Kane and Couliblay

or Coulibaly and Christian (insert spanish name)

    Friedel/Cudicni

Corluka Bassong (if hes still here) Kaboul Rose

    Townsend Livermore/Hudd Niko?? Pienaar

1 first team striker and 1 young one

Hard to say right now.......think we definitely need a blend of experience and youth, no way will we start both those young strikers you two have up there.

Personally, for our Europa League campaign, I would blood youngsters who (by virtue of their age) are not included in the 25 man squad that we must declare for the Premier League.

However, since being drawn against Hearts, I think for this qualifying tie we should play a team of our decent second string players as I can't bear the thought of my Scottish mates taking the piss out of me if Hearts win the tie!!!!!

Really depends on like, first-team injuries and stuff.. because if Lennon and Bale get injured, then Bentley, Kranjcar or Pienaar would probably take their places.. meaning they would be tired in the upcoming Europa fixture.
Hopefully something like this (without any injuries)

    GK: Gomes
    DR: Walker
    CB: Bassong
    CB: A toughy.. Kaboul
    LB: Rose
    MR: Bentley
CM: Palacios (providing he stays if not, Jenas)
CM: Livermore (or in a more attacking role, Kranjcar)
    LM: Pienaar
    ST: Coubalily(sp)
    ST: Keane

Not really sure.. can't decide until transfer deadline, of course we could've increased our depth and first team by then.

    Hearts team

    GOALIE

Marian Kello - our goalkeeper and best player by a mile, should be in the prem soon

    DEFENCE

Ryan McGowan - only a young lad but is strong and fast, not a threat attacking though

Marius Zaliukas(c) - just out of anger management Big Zal is a very able defender but calling him clumsy would be an understatement(wouldn't say that to his face mind)

Eggert Jonsson - very popular with fans but nobody can tell you why

Danny Grainger - good corner taker, good crosser and good defender

    MIDFIELD

    David Templeton - Lionel who?

Ian Black - i wouldn't play anyone important in centre mid if i were Arry

    Jamie Hammill - see Blackie

Sir Rudi Skacel - LEGEND, any shot at goal within 30 yards will be in the net

    STRIKERS

Ryan Stevenson - not much ability but Stevo has the Heart of a lion, a first rate attitude

Kevin Kyle - as a man he is a cult hero, as a player he is a battering ram and would put his head where others woudn't put there foot

p.s this is assuming we don't make signings before then

Modric won't be played in the EL unless we are deep in the competition.

Absolutely understand the sentiment but I imagine we would give Thudd/Sandro some game time after injury before Modders would play.

I don't fancy Sandro / Hud / Walker / Kaboul / Crouch playing, I can see the injuries piling up and every other Sunday Harry moaning about having to play Thursday etc. Saying that, against Hearts and I would be less bothered as at least the journey is local compared to eastern European teams. The Hearts game is good for us in many ways as it will be competitive and should get some of the lads a bit focused. But youth to me is the way to go. And if the Hearts player get a little frisky, then sign up Joey Barton for the 2nd leg and tell him he can't go back on twitter until he takes a few of their lads out.

I would imagine that the journey to Edinburgh from Stansted or Luton is quicker that the coach journey to Chelski ?

Neither, but if we don't play Kaboul then who else will play centre back? Hutton?? :eek:15: :001_07:

This highlights why we still need to sign a centre back IMO.

It is a tricky one. The only thing is that if we bring in a regular CB like Samba, then I can't see us keeping Bassong as well. Caulker would have been handy for these matches but it also seems a bit daft to keep him back just for EL and Carling cup as he needs regular playing time.

Probably a bit longer over all, but at least they can be back Thursday night. Part of me wants us to go out early, not because so much the demands placed on the squad, but just to stop Harry having excuses in the media if we are not on track for top 4.
