I was there at the Brands Hatch meeting! and what a race it was, went down to the pits after the 1st race and got my hat signed by Plato, great piece of memorabilia :)

I think Formula One has long lost its magical touch. I remember well Niki Lauda in his successfull years, his comeback after that horror crash, etc.

Now I always fell asleep by watching F1, I stick to Moto GP with Valentino Rossi now.

Perfer f1 and i know i havent been keeping the thread alive because of busy weekends, The driver talent in F1 is leagues above anything in the BTCC and the whole point of F1 is to be the best in the world. Mechanics has always interested me and the cars in F1 are simply works of amazing engineering.

Also if you watch motor racing for the crashes take a minute to think how ****ed up that is, i mean its not like all the drivers are arsenal fans or something

You can't compare them like that. Once you were able to - like when Jim Clark held the F1 title and BTCC title at the same time! But not any more. Drivers are specialist, either single seater or tin top. It's a different way of driving.

Just because f1 is the pinnacle of single seater racing, and that's where all single seater drivers want to get to, doesn't mean that they are better than tin tip drivers. They have their own pinnacles.

I agree with you to an extent, but as if they crossed schools of racing i think F1 drivers would be more sucessful in BTCC than BTCC drivers in F1. Not sure if you watch the Race of Champions every year, but single seater drivers are able to come out and put on a more than decent performance where the edge is clearly not with them. Germany have won the World cup at the Tournament of champions quite frequently and they consist of Vettel and Schumacher, two drivers who are at a notable disadvantage.

I think you're right enfield about F1 drivers would be better at Btcc than the Btcc drivers being better in F1, but we all found out what happens to F1 drivers when they mix it up in the Btcc lol

Johnny Herbert came into Btcc for a few rounds at the end of last year and the touring cars racers just ran him off the road and told him where to go :001_302:
