They have a loooooot of money like man city
since they have someone like man city from quatar,Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani pumping money into the club.

brought a very good coach in pellegrini

    Transfers like demichellis from bayern
    Baptista from roma
    Van nistelrooy
    Mathijsen from hamburg

and now toulalan according to the malaga page who is probably the best signing so far
as hes an very important player to lyon.

they will still need a lot of transfers to be anywhere near the europa places imo.

it would be good to watch a team break the Real Madrid and Barcelona dominance.

Best thing that could happen for Spanish football. Get a few squads challenging the two big boys on a consistent basis and hope that is enough to reorganize the tv rights. Probably nothing more than a pipe dream though.

Don't forget PSG of France. They've got strong Qatari backing now.

Thought Getafe were the rich kids in Spain now? Unless they bought Malaga instead . .

it's good for La Liga i feel!

what is it with sky blue/white wearing teams getting rich now?

first Man City, then Napoli and now Malaga...

i think Malaga will push for a CL/EL spot next season for sure!

Malaga has Middle Eastern backing but it was bought last summer. Getafe got bought and now they're "Getafe Team Dubai." I wish the investors would have bought a Valencia or Villareal and got them out of debt, those two are closer to the big boys than Malaga or Getafe.

Aren't they? When the team was bought there was a big thing about how they were going to be rebranded as "Getafe Team Dubai."

Hopefully you're right and the owners backed off the horrible name. They would be the laughingstock of the league, with the Getafe Team Dubai and the Burger King jerseys.

Marca reported it as bollocks, and as of yet, there hasn't been a name change.

Checked it out and you're right. If you google "Getafe Team Dubai" all the stories are from around April 21st when the team was bought. Nothing since then. And then the Marca story about no name change as well. What I wonder is why the owners haven't bought anyone yet, I remember them saying their goal was to be as big as Real Madrid.

Both Malaga and Getafe have new owners that are loaded. While normally I don't like sugar daddy owners, in La Liga, I'm all for it. Anything that potentially breaks up the top 2 is a good thing.

Plus Getafe have come out with some hilarious stuff.

Joaquin is still good but not as good as he was a few years ago. Van Nistelrooy is old and wasn´t even first choice in Hamburg although i know everyone here thinks he is God. Toulalan is a great signing, Demichelis ... don´t need to tell you anything about him, Mathijsen is a good signing, Baptista is a decent signing also, don´t know much about Sergio Sanchez, how good is he?

Malaga are close to get Santi Cazorla, if it is successful they will officially be a good team. they are becoming a deadly squad, idk if it was because of money that he left villarreal but he is one of their best player and if he go maybe it is a good chance to get rossi if the squad is leaping off of the ship

Malaga in relative perspective has nowhere near the financial power of citizens of Paris or Manchester. I don't believe this club with be a regular top 4 in La Liga, and even if they are, I don't think they'll be of any threat at all in CL as will Shitty and PSG. The difference is as I have said, the gate receipts, and other obvious points. Therefore this won't be of any profit, especially if they buy high profile names like Shitty have bought, will only come to a loss and the owner will back out.

To me this doesn't seem far different than if a rich owner like Malaga's would have bought Bari (relatively big city but very poor) of Serie A, or Albania's best club, SK Tirana.

Mate, Sheikh Al Thani is fookin mega rich! I wouldn't underestimate their financial power. They've splashed a lot more than Paris have . . . . .

I agree with the others who've said that it'd be great to see the 'two way tie' for the league broken.

If it's Malaga to do that, then so be it.

Despite finishing 4th in Spanish league - and so to Champions League play-off - they came nowhere to breaking the dominamce of the big 2 - over 30 massive points behind Barca and over 40 behind Real. Less intreseting than the Scottish Premier in recent seasons! I sense Malaga have invested above their station and have had to unload - hence the arrival of Santi Cazorla to ** cough cough ** your North London neighbours just today ...

    Malaga are broke.

    Malaga
Tottenham Transfers: Malaga Money Woes Raise Spurs' Cazorla, Rondon Interest | Bleacher Report

Another Qatari-backed club, this one seems to be the black sheep of the family after it was reported by Sky Sports that four members of the club filed complaints about wages not being paid.

Of note, the list included Jose Salomon Rondon and Santi Cazorla—two members of Malaga’s squad that seemingly have run afoul on the owners.

While the club itself made a statement—picked up by FIFA—that states the complaints were withdrawn, that does not mean that they are very happy about having this story out in the open.

I love when people assume because we may get "Arab Money" everything would be peachy.

I've said this many times but owners like Roman or the Sheikh are very rare, more often it's the same or worse than what we already have.

But what about Anzhi, PSG, and to a lesser exten a few other Ukranian and Russian clubs?

Yeah they're the exceptions. Remember when Portsmouth was going to be rolling in the pounds?

well, my Reading have just got a new Russian president Anton Zingarevich - and WHAT a beautiful wife he's got, check photos for Katsia (should double season tickets alone) - but I don't think much will change; still go on in the John Madejski way of never spending a single penny above our means. Probably why we're near favourites to go straight back down!
