Jonathan Woodgate has undergone further groin surgery in Australia. The 30-year-old defender had two operations on the problem during the summer and, although the latest procedure is likely to rule him out for the remainder of the current campaign, he is expected to return in time for the start of pre-season training. The surgeon has reported that the operation went well. Manager Harry Redknapp said: "Jonathan had the operation at midnight UK time. He had been in America seeing a specialist and he has now seen a specialist out in Australia who feels he has found the answer. "He is going to spend the next few weeks in Sydney recovering under the supervision of the specialist who carried out the operation."
