Anyone else thinking that this kid deserves a go up top? Young and promising has an incredible eye for goal and with just 3 fit strikers I feel its time to give him a game or 2…maybe even more. Not necessarily to the point were he has to start but perhaps brining him in will allow us to "mix" it up a bit.

Looking at our up coming games I feel the CC game with the scum would be a great opportunity for him….but even Wolves, West Ham, and Villa could be the best possible time to use him.

I know its wishful thinking but with only 3 goals scored so far in the league we need to change something, and quick.

I think young Harry needs to be gently eased into the first team.

He’s still learning his trade and I wouldn’t want us to rush him into first team football just yet.

Perhaps the odd substitute appearance in the League Cup might be in order?

To be honest, he couldn’t do any worse than our current strikers are managing

I really rate Harry, the kid is quality & I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t make it at the top level – I just hope it is with us. He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing & sooner or later Redknapp will have to take notice. Kane has been captain of our Academy for over a year already, so he is obviously being recognised as both a talent & a leader. I suspect, at some point, he will be loaned out & then we will all see what he is made of for real.

CC against the scum would be the perfect debut! If he was to go an impress then I really hope Harry hands him minutes in the later stages of comfortable matches!

Its very important to win the CC game against the scums. But I would love to see him play as a substitute against them, maybe he can pull a Danny Rose ;)

i’d probably say its too soon. But our strikers from at the moment is horrific. I wouldn’t take odds of 100/1 for Pav to score, and crouch and keane aren’t much better

We do have a thread, I made a thread for the youngsters that are out on loan. Hopefully this can be Kane’s own permanent thread too. Here is a video of our u18s vs Man United a month ago…2nd part is on the side of the youtube video, check it out.

There are loads of threads on our young Yids, one crops up every 6 months or so.

Can Harry play as a lone striker? Possibly. He is more of a number 10 type than a classic number 9, but then so was Rooney when he was younger & he’s grown into a great lone striker. He has the size to be able to cope physically also, but he needs to grow into himself a little bit ore if you get me.

Also, its a helluva responsibility for a young lad to get him to lead the line. Much better to break him in with a more experienced strike partner to play off until he’s comfortable with playing at senior level.

Tottenhamhotspur.com – News Articles – U18s back to winning ways

We’ll Harry Kane wasnt in the side for the u18 game against Charlton, seems strange to me. He is the current captain of the academy squad which says a lot about him. He might be injured, going out on loan soon, possibly playing in a Spurs XI game next week, or possibly making a small debut in Germany (very doubtful) but just running to conclusions right now!

I think we should give him a go with someone like Keane upfront, I don’t rate Keane at the moment but Keane is a leader and will show Kane what to do and help him during the game… to play him as a lone striker would be stupid atm, he needs to be slowly introduced to the first team, otherwise we would be throwing him in the deep end hoping he can swim, with someone like Keane along side him during a game will boost his confidence because if Kane doesn’t perform well the pressure will be on Keane who can take that kind of criticism whereas if he’s a lone striker all the pressure is just on Kane to score/perform well

I really rate him and have said it in many other threads and with the West Brom result I think its a perfect time for him to come on as a sub and push our strikers for a place in the starting 11

I’ll agree with Edmonds to 1 point, I’d rather see Kane played with alongside Crouch inorder for him to be most effective. However, it is a bit silly that a month ago were talking about Fabiano and now were talking about Kane, I know were needing a goal scoring striker but for a 17 year old to be our hopeful option is a "tad bit desperate". If the job doesnt get done between now and January I really feel the need for a new striker is going to become a majority rule.

I don’t think Crouch is a commanding CF where as Keane is thats the only reason I said Keane and not Pav or Crouch…

I is odd we were talking about Fabiano now we’re talking about Kane but Kane needs his chance and the fact we haven’t signed a striker is Kane’s opportunity to shine because if ‘Arry doesn’t play him before January I think its obvious that we’ll sign a striker and Kane will get lost under the radar, which will really disappoint me because Kane has a lot of promise

Keane and Kane are simliar players imo, the fact that when Crouch is played when the long ball comes into him he can hold it up at times and possibly get Kane into the game might make Kane more useful for exposure. It goes along the same line as Kudus in the academy, Kudus is the main target up front and Harry makes his own opportunities out of what Kudus makes.

Nah, even if Kane doesnt get a flash this season he’s only 17, plenty more years under his belt to develop and get his chance to shine, were only talking about him because our crop of strikers are struggling so this topic wouldnt have been relevant is Defoe was fit and the other 3 had shown some glimpse of hope in the past 2 games.

we had been talking about Kane since the start of the season when Defoe was fit and Crouch scored a hat-trick against the Young Boys so this topic was still about then, but with 5 strikers in the squad (if we sign one in January) do you really see Kane getting the nod over 5 of them in a CC match? no… because ‘Arry will want to give playing time to the other strikers he has left out over the season…

then in order for Kane to get into the squad and not get sold on would be to play him, yes he’s only 17 but he probably knows he is good and probably wants 1st team football, and i have always been of the opinion the early the player gets into the 1st team the more time he has to settle and get used to it, if we wait until he’s 21ish he could have got so used to playing academy football and could get complacent so when brought into the 1st team he would struggle, I think this is the season for him, not just because of injuries and under performers, because i want to see him do well in the PL in a Spurs shirt.

I reckon that if we had brought in a striker in the summer than 1 of the current 4 would have been sold or loaned. Making it still a 4 striker force with Harry still gaining confidence in the academy (which he’ll be doing as long as HR is concerned)

I do agree that the sooner he gets used to playing 1st team football the better but he isnt the Rooney type of player so I’d rather see him eased into the first team squad than suddenly rushed because were looking for a cure our goal scoring options.

what makes him not a Rooney type of player? we don’t know what he’s like until he plays for our first team but for our academy he’s a leader and a goal scorer and a play maker all of which I hope he can bring to the 1st team sooner rather than later (obviously the leader will come at a later stage when he’s played a few games for us) but I strongly believe that he could become a Rooney type player but lets hope he stays loyal to us

Rooney had a tone of hype going for him coming from the Everton academy, so far the only hype for Kane is this very thread. So some might not have taken notice of him the past season or 2 in the academy where he’s done well but I dont think Harry seems him as a player in the first team this season. I would extremely surprised to see him this season as much as I’d like to see him I just cant see HR resulting to pulling his name from the hat and playing him in the odd game or 2.

look what all that hype did to Rooney though… turned him into a arrogant footballer which works well sometimes but works worse in others… Rooney knew he was good so he got all big headed, Kane probably knows he’s good but without all the hype he’s probably still thinking he needs to prove himself which works well in our boat, I just think its time for us to provide a decent young player from our academy into our squad and Kane is the man to do that

Rooney is/was a special player coming through that Everton team, and the likes of the international we have in our striker force makes me think that HR would be a very desperate man to play him (as would the rest of the media/other 50% of fans who dont see this kids as we do)

I know what you’re saying as its the prime opportunity to let him loose but essentially I dont think we’ll be seeing him, however it is a rare thing to see him out of the u18 squad (he could be injured) so that might mean something there

I dont think he’s injured they’re probably playing him in the Spurs XI soon and don’t want him getting injured in the U18’s or maybe they are jsut giving someone else ago in the U18’s to see if others are good enough to get a contract

I’d find it rather odd if we arranged another Spurs XI this week considering we’ve had 1 the past 2 weeks and with the mid week game.

And I’d think the contracts would be sorted out before the season had got underway as I havent heard of any new trialist coming into the young bunch.

spurs XI this wed. so that explains why he would be out of the u18s. the way i see it, he is going to get a chance this year, and it will be in the CC after the goons if we win or in the FA against a weaker opposition. hopefully it will be more than the last 3 mins, would like to see a half out of him v quality opposition. hell, he might be up for going out on loan, who knows.

I hope he gets a chance, and I suppose going out on loan might be good for him but I dont think he’d be getting as many games out on loan compared to him playing with the academy.

Also, whats happened with Steven Caulker going out on loan? Thought he’d be off to Leeds which was reported like 2 months ago in some of the papers.

I am getting really excited after hearing about him lately.

Hopefully I get to see him in first team action against Arsenal.
