Take a look at this, posted on the Spurs Odyssey Forum. Here it is: smokeyddyid RE Tavistock Group Quote: Just recieved this from a gooner mate!!! For those of you that are interested and have been wondering where the spuds have been getting their money from read on… for those of you who are not interested skip this post!! I am currently on holiday in Mauritius staying at the Le Saint Geran and today i met Nico Van Ditmar, a director at The Tavistock Group which is owned by spuds “sugar daddy†Joe Lewis. – Tavistock A piece came on the BBC World News about AVB and how he plans to take the spuds forward and we started talking footy. He started by telling me how he is a big spurs fan to which i retorted that i am a gooner, his next words were “Oh, we’ll soon be overtaking you guys in a big way†I asked him what he meant and he said “Lets just say that the gloves are off! Apparently, the one and only reason spurs de-listed themselves from the stock market recently was so that the The Tavistock Group i.e Joe Lewis, was able to pump funds and liquidity into spurs in a big way (non disclosure). They are just about to open a 67acre £45 million world class training facility in Enfield, this is the reason they have been able to attract AVB, Vertonghan and stole Sigurrdsen from Liverpool. They did not borrow any money to fund this build and it is considered that it will be one of the best if not the best facility at any football club in the world. Bale is now on £105,000 per week and spurs are willing to pay Ade £140,000 to prise him away from City. City want £7 million but spuds only willing to pay £5 million Worst still, Modric (currently on £105,000pw) will not leave for less than 40 million euro’s and Real Madrid are his preferred option. Real are trying to dilute the transfer fee with Carvalho but spuds stance is that they want 40 million euro’s and will negotiate for Carvalho separately as he is one of AVB’s targets anyway. Modric is contracted until 2016 so spuds hold the upper hand in negotiations, if he leaves they WILL replace him with Moutinho who spuds think is a better player anyway, captained Portugal at 20 yrs old and more aggressive. Hugo Lloris has chosen spurs over us, personal terms agreed but transfer fee is stumbling block, Lyon want 20 million euro’s spuds have offered 15 million, this Nico fella assured me he will be a spuds player by July 15th Their new stadium build is at a cost of £450 million but they will only have to borrow £180 million!!!! Big daddy Joe is funding the rest!! To make things even worst AVB has been given a transfer kitty of £100 million to spend which must also include wages. This was the one and only reason Redknapp was sacked, it was decided that between Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis that Redknapp could not be trusted to take spuds forward in the way that they want given the commitment in funds the board are now making. So there you have it maybe not from the horses mouth but definitely from near the arsehole area!! I asked him he if he could shed any light on Kronke and all he said was “He’s a very conservative fellow and keeps himself to himself so i can’t tell you much about him†He carried on by explaining that Lewis is a massive spurs fan and has always been spurs “petty cash†tin when they’ve needed it and that “you could not have a better owner of tottenham hostpur football club than Joe lewis†Apologies if some of the transfer info is old hat as I’ve not been able to keep up with things and please don’t shoot the messenger!! It does beg the question what the f**k is going on at Arsenal though doesn’t it? .
Going to move your thread into the ITK section since it seems appropriate to do so…… It all sounds very exciting!
Someone posted that on one of the Spurs facebook groups about 3-4days ago… To be honest i dismissed it as bullshit that this director Nico would just divulge so much info to some random bloke..
It could very well all be rubbish, but it does go into quite some detail, hence making it believeable. We will see!
Yeah to be fair a lot of these ITK stories sound a bit like the old letters to Penthouse magazine. Like "I never thought this would happen to me, but…"
I think the post has a general ring of truth to it. Yet without knowing the ins and outs of how Lewis delegates power within Tavistock I’m not even sure if the MD would necessarily know the players’ salaries, for example. As far as THFC’s affairs are concerned Joe may be so ‘hands on’ that Ditmar isn’t even in the loop. That said, Levy self evidently convinced AVB to come to us. Now it could be that AVB wanted to get back into football management A.S.A.P. On the other hand, Levy may have convinced him about a ‘big project’ ahead – and make no mistake, this is big, if true. The bit about ‘Arry especially rings true i.e. we did fook all in the last window because Uncle Joe was holding back the cash. I would hardly describe Saha and Nelsen as transfer window business, save for the fact that Lewis and Levy may have thought that would have been enough to see us over the line ( i.e. providing cover) in terms of getting into the CL. There’s also the obvious issue of not sanctioning ball busting deals if the (then) current manager has no long term future with the club. It won’t change the dynamics regarding free spending Shiteh and the Chavs; but it will certainly worry the Scum, which is fine by me.
[h=6]Josh Fordham [/h][h=6]Just been forwarded this document at work. Make of it what you will – just passing it on! must say the same as someone else, would he really be telling some gooner he met on holiday all this info? just some random bloke in the bar or wherever, must say sounds very interesting IF true but i wont hold my breath tbh
Don’t believe any of this as Joe Lewis has been involved in Spurs since 2000-2001, and if was as passionate about spurs as claimed he would have put more in years ago
If indeed we are going to be the beneficiaries of some major investment, I find it strange that there has been little or no media coverage on the speculation. Our signings so far amount to, in fees only granted, around £22.5m(Gylfi, Vert and Ade?). If you balance that off against who has left its hardly a sign that major dough has been injected. I hope it happens but won’t be counting my chickens blah, blah, blah
So lets just suppose what is being said is correct 1 The £270 said that JL would be providing toward the stadium costs would equate to about 10% of his estimated total wealth. 2 £100 million to fund transfer fees and wages. If the figure is correct then Ade (wage said to be £140k a week) on say a 4 year deal would cost about £38 million.Jan Vertonghen on a 4 year deal (wage of say £65k a week) would cost £22 million.Gylfi Sigurdsson again on a 4 year deal about the same wage as Vertonghen would cost about £21 million. These 3 players would account for £81 million of the £100 million. Wouldnt leave a lot left aand as was said earlier the money spent so far really isnt anything much more than received in the last 2 windows. 3 Any investment by JL would have to be disclosed. FFP requires it i dont doubt that JL has invested some thing. he is a rich man after all but sorry the logic doesnt quite add up.
