seems like he just wanted a chance to gloat and get some spotlight. i doubt we asked him seriously to take the job. maybe we asked his agent or sent out a feeler, but we didnt even sack redknapp till 16 days after he was unveiled for liverpool.

sure, we sounded out candidates, but im sure it wasnt anything serious like he makes it out to be
    hes just a ****

It’s got nothing to so with who might finish where, we are looking for a new manager because our last one failed, the Tottenham job is simply a far bigger job than the Southampton job, if he has zero ambition he would turn us down, but he wouldn’t.

First of all what on earth are you doing on danish websites, lol? ;)

And yes it pretty much says that because Laudrup is someone who wants to control 100% of the incoming and outgoing signings Tottenham is one of the least suited clubs for him in England because of Daniel Levy and to some extent Franco Baldini.

I would like Laudrup because he employs the football we all want and I think he’d be quite succesful here but I wonder how long there’d go before him and Levy inevitably falls out. Laudrup would never accept signings coming in over his head in any shape or form.

Well one minute i was looking at Helena Christensen photos and one thing lead to another lol.
I have a feeling this Director of football or whatever it’s called these days is going to be a problem when looking for the new man.

    :laughter:

Anyway I think you’re right. I would imagine most managers would like some, if not full control over which players are signed, sent out on loan etc.

There’s really not a lot in it for any of those.
Our stadium isn’t all that much bigger than theirs. Granted it’ll be bigger once our new one is finished but they can quite easily expand theirs if they feel the need which would reduce the gap again.

Fan base is more difficult since it’s hard to get any reliable statistics on it. Ours is undoubtedly bigger but given Southampton’s past successes I’d be surprised if they were that far behind.

Again, in terms of players we’re clearly ahead of them (with better depth) but not so far ahead that it’s unthinkable they’d finish above us.

If I were in his position as an unbiased manager I think I’d probably stay where I was.
He’s got a good thing going and it’s not worth risking that for the rather small difference in quality between the clubs.

In the UK we’d have at least 4 times as many fans as them and world wide about 10 times as many. It wouldn’t even be remotely close. There are lots of resources for things like this these days.

Isn’t this supposed to be the ITK thread? There are plenty of other threads to have the debates you all are having here.

Tim Sherwood: ‘I want manager’s job or nothing’

Tottenham Hotspur caretaker manager Tim Sherwoodhas insisted that he wants the job on a permanent basis and that he will not go back to being the assistant.

Sherwood is believed to be in the running to replaceAndre Villas-Boas, but he has not confirmed that it is all or nothing as far as he is concerned.

"Long-term it’s number one or nothing," the Daily Express quotes Sherwood as saying. "Going back to being an assistant is not for me. But it’s the chairman’s decision. If it were down to me I am getting a 10-year contract now.

"[Other managers are] not being linked with the job by Daniel Levy, are they? It might not be about the biggest names – the club and the manager have got to be compatible. It is not good to keep changing."

Sherwood has taken charge of one game so far, which ended in defeat to West Ham United.

Gotta be honest Sherwood’s current record as spurs manager is statistically the worst ever.

    100% loss rate……..

    SHERWOOD OUT.

If this true he is not short on confidence.

With 20/20 hindsight Rudi Garcia would have been a good choice….12 months ago. Why doesn’t everyone have ‘hindsight’ it’s amazing and makes life so much easier……

Just look at social media sites. For example, we have over 3 million "likes" on Facebook, Southampton have just over 100,00.

We’ve got 4 times as many followers on Twitter.

We’ve got a better online presence but that’s hardly a reliable way to measure a fanbase (hell, I’m not sure what is…).

Frank de Boer said today he will not join Tottenham because he has unfinished business at Ajax.

Standard Sport reported yesterday that De Boer had turned down an approach from Spurs technical director Franco Baldini to succeed the sacked Andre Villas-Boas.
De Boer signed a new four-year deal in the summer and said today he is keen to build on his impressive work at the Dutch club.
“I am very satisfied with Ajax and I am not ready to leave yet,” said the 43-year-old. “Spurs are not a club who can currently take me on. I have no doubt they are a great club, that’s for sure.
“[The interest] means I’m good at my job. For the rest I cannot do too much about. I’m very happy here and just getting started with Ajax.”
Before De Boer’s appointment in 2010, Ajax had gone six years without the title but they have been crowned champions for the last three seasons and are second in the Eredivisie.
Public confirmation that De Boer is not prepared to quit Ajax mid-season is a blow to Spurs, who have placed Tim Sherwood in temporary charge.

Honestly..It was refreshing just seeing Sherwood clapping the lads on a chance created. If he can get the boys behind him and them believing in his tactics then I wouldn’t mind him until the end of the season and ~ I mean all Legendary Managers current and past had to of started and were given a chance somewhere right?

…In the toughest league in the worl, at a club the size of ours, with a mult-multi-million £ squad in turmoil whilst the nations press is primed to rip you apart at the earliest opportunity?

    No… Not many.

I was talking to my brother just now (arranging Christmas) when he mentioned that his wife’s dad said that FDB is expected to be moving to London.

They’re friends with the de boer family by all accounts. Spurs weren’t mentioned explicitly and my sis in law didn’t think anything of it. Her dad just said to tell my brother, who he knows is a spurs fan.

Tenuous and boring but 100% genuine.

I’ll never have another link to info again so I’m happy to share."

Sadly DeBoer’s latest comments would seem to indicate he’s decided to stay put.

    Which one?

I ask because the press keep repeating he rejected us but in the actual comment that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Never mind, I think I see what you’re talking about.

De Boer: "Spurs not a club who can take me on" – HITC Sport

Oh well, there goes that, if those quotes are accurate at least.

Maybe we can go after Spalletti.
