Hoddle was advertising his 3-5-2 before the game on Sky. It was ridicilous and even Redknapp Jr. looked like he was about to burst out laughing.

All respect to Hoddle as a player. I’m obviously too young to have watched him but his status as a legend and the videoclips speaks for themselves. However as a manager of this club I don’t think we could do much worse.

Sherwood would be very foolish to pass on the caretaker role. He can really make a name for himself if he does well the rest of the season. He has ZERO experience. This would be a chance for him to get some.

I don’t have the local exchange number for Shepherd Market.

Which reminds me of an old (and lame) joke.

Q: How can you tell a female Tottenham fan.

A: A female Tottenham fan has a pleat up her skirt.

Indeed, he isn’t in a position to demand things imo, I doubt he would get a better opportunity then this in the near future, even if it is just as a care-taker for the rest of the season. The big question is what to do with Sherwood once van Gaal comes in… Back to the u21’s, assistant to van Gaal or let him leave to a club from the lower divisions to get more experience.

It’s quite scary imagening how he’d set us up. If it’s true that we’re getting Louis Van Gaal this summer we really need to get an interrim manager that isn’t Hoddle.

Him talking about slipping into defense, slipping into attack, slipping into everything almost had me slip into a coma…

Is that really his tactics? Townsend in the hole?? That has to be some joke right.

lol That could get messy.

In the end I respect Hoddle but I don’t want him anywhere near this club as our manager. If the LVG rumours are true then I think Levy needs to do his best to convince Sherwood of the interim job.

Edit: Altough one could worry about Sherwood’s motivation knowing he’s to be replaced in the summer.

He has said he wants it long term or not at all, so if we appoint a manager for the summer and he sticks to his word we will also need a new interim.

Am I the only one who thinks van Gaal might send one of his assistants ahead to prepare the club for his coming? Someone to start the groundwork for van Gaal to work on?

Come to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes Edgar Davids with him. Has a Spurs history and van Gaal is in his depth.

That is one of the worst formations I have ever seen. What exactly will he be trying to do with that team. Get Rose and Walker to just run down the wing and smash it into the penalty area hoping Soldado or Defoe is there to knock it in.

Not only that – take a player who thrives on having space to run into at speed and put him the most congested area of the pitch.

I can imagine that he’d rather be an assistant at Spurs.

Hoddle likes to play 5-3-2 with wing backs….or at least he used to.

based on jrg83 Hoddle team photo and making the following changes.. Townsend for Rose, Dembele for Townsend, and Adebayor for Defoe, I would suggest that it has a the makings of a solid unit both in defence and attack. The Dembele role could easily be flexible with the likes of Eriksen for example.

Lamela is going to have to be eased into PL football over a season, Capoue can be rotated with Sandro or Paulinho, on paper with the above changes I don’t think it’s too bad at all. Hoddle’s problem is his ego, hearsay is that first time round he used to belittle players, also whilst I like his comments and thoughts as a Sky pundit, I can’t see him working with Levy or Baldini on any sort of long term basis.

with that formation I would see the centres being more centre mids coming wingers (getting out wide from a central formation) with only 1x holding midfield (due to there already being 3x centre backs) and the second striker being a more no 10 role (IE Eriksen/ Holtby) rather than Defoe, Soldado or Adebayor!

it would then look like this…
………Dawson……… Vert…………
……………Chirches……………
Walker……………………………Rose
…………….Sandro……………………..
…….Townsend………….Siggy………
………………Holtby………………
…………….Soldado…………..

That’s how I interpret Hoddles formation based upon the Euros and previous Spurs career (not players but positionally)!

considering that images was Hoddle’s formation that he suggested on Sky Sports, you interpret his formation wrong

Lol – Re-read "based upon the Euros & previous Spurs career – not players (and I allude to) but positionally" it is the latter that I more refer to! He never played with a solid 3 straight centre back and you dont with 5 at the back in effect one centre back is a anchorman-sweeper role. Sandro (whom I named) or any other player is the go to guy that Glen used to use and then the winger (I named) are in the position of CM but got to the wings from a central position…

I’m highlighting from SS that although it is a 532 its not conventional with him (perhaps I didn’t explain properly), thus highlighting he is a man with a plan and each role is more indepth – Anderton was more of a CM that went to the winges with Glen was there first! This is why I would love Glen back, he is and was ahead of his time he proved it with Chelski at the time with money & resources. Lets just hope he doesn’t want to still rule the roust in training! HA!

He never finished higher than 11th with chelaea.
All this hoddle talk is irrelevant anyway, you dont take back failures, especially when they lost the dressing room first time around.

Some interesting stuff from the Netherlands…

Hotspur Related ‏@HotspurRelated7m
Dutch source Telegraaf claim Sherwood will finish season as caretaker and then become Van Gaal’s assistant for next 2-3 seasons. #THFC

Stephan ‏@FootballGogme7m
The Dutch newspaper understands Spurs regard Sherwood as a custodian of the club’s philosophy and style.

Stephan ‏@FootballGogme6m
According to their sources Sherwood will be groomed for the top spot, whilst being Van Gaal’s assistant as of 2014-15 season.

Not sure the credibility of these sources, but it’s something to think about.

Sherwood confirmed as Spurs manager until the end of the 2014-15 season. Unless he’s sacked before of course. I’m fricking fuming. No ambition or plan whatsoever. I wish we had a more competent owner/CEO.
