Erm, ITK is obviously wide of the mark then because Danny has just been on SSN He says that he’ll speak to Harry & if his chances of playing for Spurs in the 2nd half of the season are slim, then he’ll go back out on loan & not necessarily back to Bristol He also made it absolutely clear that there was no chance of him leaving Spurs permanently & all he wants to do is stay here & play for Tottenham. He was pretty adamant that he is only thinking about Spurs. Sorry.
Been on the Bristol City forum and Caulker was outstanding for them today AGAIN. They beat a good Cardiff side 3-0, and even since he went there they’ve been much better defensively.
OMFG caulker was fantastic today against chopra, bellamy and keogh, hang on no wait i mean he’s completely overrated, never gonna make it in the prem, as a touch of sportmanship we’ll sign him permanently so he cannot poison your team.
lol brizzlefan keep him going mate, I want this kid to be in our first team in 2 seasons time.
spursman18 he could get in your first team now, miles better than gallas, for a lad so young he reads the game so well and he is a strong physical presence, i genuinely cant find any weaknesses with this lad.
brizzlefan I have to disagree on him being better than Gallas right now, while Caulker is progressing well and improving so much the leadership and experience Old Bill is providing to us is immense. Even though I’ve only caught 2 Bristol City games, its a bit premature to say that about Caulker at least IMO. I’m not doubting what you’re saying because I know Caulker is quality. HR will have his hands full though if Woody becomes fully fit and impresses out on loan as well as King if he can get fit….adding Daws, Kaboul, Bassong, and Khumalo into the mix surely if HR feels Caulker is ready for the first team next season than its goodbye Bassong or one of Woody/King will not get moved on but more likely retire (Woody’s contract runs out this summer, and King has a deal until 2012) Also Gallas if he plays 25-30 games automatically gets a new deal. After all that, Caulker will have to be patient and I would think go out on loan in the PL next season. In my eyes, theres no need to rush Caulker…..he’ll be a great player at this rate but like fine wine he’ll get better with age.
@spursman18 a very well written and thought out post. i completley agree that you shouldnt rush caulker (maybe keep him here for two years if needed.) i also look at your list of centre backs and agree that caulker will have to be patient and take his chance when it comes, my reasoning for caulker being better than gallas is purely based on consistency. gallas, like most players, tends to blow hot and cold and on his day can be world class however when not on his day can look very average, caulker has been incredible every game for us, even when we’ve conceded a few goals, he has held our makeshift back line together and could easily captain a team at his age. he is incredibly confident going forward and often creates chances with surging runs. physically caulker is also superior than other spurs defenders, 6’3 i think and solid as a rock but also contains a lot of pace and stamina, wins everything in the air and rarely misplaces a header or a pass. however we will not know how good this lad really is until he comes up against a world class striker.
brizzlefan and thats my biggest concern, which I think having a loan in the PL next season will be the platform to see just how good this guy will be for us. At first when Gallas came into our side he was very unfit, and with our injury problems there he was probably rushed in too quickly but we couldnt afford to not to play him because we really didnt have anyone else. While I will say I wasnt impressed with him in his first few games (due to his lack of match fitness), he has now shown some of the quality that he had at the Chavs/Scum. He has been immense for us and as I’ve said a lot on this forum Caulker’s timing to coming into our squad might be perfect. IMO Gallas/King/Woody will all be retired/out by the 2012-2013 season and thats where I see Caulker coming in and battling for a first team place. That’ll give him 2 more years out on loan somewhere, which can only benefit him in the long run. Can you tell me a bit about his positional sense and how he goes into 50 50s does he typically win them and go in with confidence or does he get caught out at times as most would assume a young player would do.
spursman18 top notch positionally, never caught out positionally from what i have seen, for such a young lad is maturity and knowledge of the game is outstanding. with regards to 50-50 balls he wins the majority of most of them and on the occasional misjudgement he has the pace to get back and make up for his mistake. as a sidenote, thankyou for this debate spursman, you make your points clearly and back them up so a ‘wurzel’ like myself can understand.
brizzlefan Sounds quality, and thank you for the updates on him (although I do get on your forum every now and then to see how he’s getting on). I knew he would be a quality player after talking to some of the staff during the preseason tour we had over here in the states. The fella I talked to made it a point to single out Caulker to keep an eye on for the future, and since then I have. Lets hope he keeps helping you all climb up the table and keeping those clean sheets coming.
Caulker has just got a last minute equaliser against QPR from a corner. Nice to know he’s good in the air
Yeah Caulker’s goal epic, I wanted a draw. Can’t wait till we get to see Caulker and Walker in our back 4, fantastic lads they are.
Harry was at the game as well…….Walker’s loan runs out in a few days so I’m sure HR wants him to get some PL experience and there are clubs that are interested in him that is if he doesnt extend his loan a QPR. Having Caulker do what he did will obviously reinforce what HR thought before the game.
caulker again stood out today for bristol city, he is one of the most promising youngsters in england and we can’t afford to let his talent go to waste, we need to blood him in soon or he will be looking to leave
good to see harry keeping an eye on them great header from caulker and walker been superb all season think they can benefit from a season in the championship c.o.ys.
we have decided to kidnap caulker and hide him, you want him you give us 10 million or you fight us for him.:748::761:
brizzlefan LOL……I was commenting on your forum earlier, fantasy world with the number of people on there thinking you could sign him. But rightly so you all are very excited about him so it makes sense.
thfcire you mean at the club? because in the summer when i talked to a few staff members his name was the first one to come up when talking about future players to look out for.
yeah mate ,im guessing thats why arrys there himself,a few reports have come in that he would make a good championship player or a lower prem club, but wont be good enough for us.i couldnt believe it when i heard
Perhaps its due to his age, but I cant believe that either. The biggest test for him to see if he really is the real deal is going out on loan next season in the PL, that’ll be the best way to judge him. I see him as a first team player in the future though thats for sure.
fooking hell i shouldnt be really saying these things on the forum, ill get bleeding hammered ll,remind me to pm you will ya ffs
