New Stadium Plans Update – News Articles – Tottenhamhotspur.com

Great to be supporters of a club that listen to their fans, which too be honest, ARE the club.

Lets hope they continue to listen and conduct the survey and realise that the last thing we want is a move to Stratford.

WE ARE TOTTENHAM, SUPER TOTTENHAM, WE ARE TOTTENHAM, FROM THE LANE.

Uh, I don’t think you read the statement correctly.

They are doing no new survey regarding our future ground.

I think some fans have been asking for a review of the Stratford plans, you know cost/benefits. That would actually be useful to have because it would put into focus for us fans what is more likely. Now, I’ve stated multiple times that Northumberland is more likely and my preference but I still would like to see what else they’re planning. I wouldn’t go as far as making a formal request to see it.

It hasn’t gotten to this stage yet but if ever necessary don’t forget Tottenham Hotspur FC is a publicly traded entity. So if enough of us shareholders banded together we could demand a review of both plans, but I don’t think that’s needed at the moment. Plus then lawyers would be getting involved and nobody wants that, well at least not me. What Levy basically is doing with his little updates on the project is giving fans enough updates so that we don’t call for something like that. Which is good enough for me, I have faith in management.

You ought to change your ‘SirBillyNick’ M8, Sorry I can’t call you a Yid. The Legend will turn in his grave IF we move East.

By the way I’m not a youngster but a Greavsie Yid. But such comments wind me up.

So you would qe quite happy to be known as Stratford Hotspur would you? I actually think that you’ve got some front by using the legend’s moniker and comming up with a crass statement like that! :9898:

Contrast, I don’t think they’re letting go of this Olympic stadium bid yet.
We’re not out of the woods yet on where our future lies.
Sure the club have taken more of a look at what the fans think of these plans, but the update has said that they’re still
participating in the Olympic stadium bid.

To me, it’s still squeaky-bum time until the planning permission for the Northumberland Project is granted and all tied up with the council.

I have to agree with SirBilly on this, i’m sure some of the people wouldn’t mind it. I’m not sure on how i would feel however if the city of Tottenham aren’t going to do some things to help out Spurs get a new stadium to grow then yes i think i would then be okay with a move. Not like they wold be moving 50 miles away or further.

Lads DO NOT jump on SBN for giving his opinion.

He is more than entitled to it even if it contradicts yours.

He has never been banned or given any type of warning and has displayed exemplary behaviour as I would expect from an old duffer yido.

    Debate dont flame.

To be honest steelktm when you are in the States and you possibly get to a game once every 2 years or so and possibly (forgive me if I am wrong) have no roots or family heritage from the Tottenham area I don’t really think you are in a position to judge whether it would be ok to move.

5 miles, 50 miles or 500 miles its all irrelevant we would be moving to EAST London and that simply is not Tottenham’s manor.

I could possibly live with Enfield or such like, but if we move to Stratford I for one would not ever go to that stadium.

I would still support them, but only on away games.

If it means no CL and a worse side on the pitch due to finances etc I would rather we scrap the whole fooking idea and stay where we are with our current stadium.

Perhaps that is what Levy and co want, get rid of the older fans and bring in the new plastic ones like Man City and Chelsea have.

I will admit that being in the states getting to a game at all is more difficult than i would like for it to be. While i still can’t go to games at this time getting up early to watch games live and going to bars to watch Spurs play still make them a team that i have put a real emotional vested interest in. However i will concede that with the american system we have set up it does put it into a different mind set on how many Americans may look at it. there are only 29-32 teams in our top division of whatever sport we choose to follow and outside of that every other team is a player feeder for a parent team that may not be the closest. This typically means that teams are the only one in the city so a move from a north side of a city to a east side of the city doesn’t mean much as that is still the only team in the city/area.

However as much as i love history i have stated in previous threads that i would prefer Spurs to stay in N17. This is where they were formed and have been for 4 times as long as i have been alive. However i do not want them to stay there if it will start moving them backward because the city realizes that it can strong arm the team. However here the teams have the ability to strong arm the city. so really it is a balancing act where both the team and the city need to realize that they both need each other.

Also please keep in mind Chingford that i haven’t said that i would be okay. just saying that i think i would be. Who knows what may happen down the line. however i do know that i have put some of my hard earned money into Spurs and I am glad to call myself a Yid. I would prefer my first game for Spurs be in WHL before a new stadium opens on WHL though.

I agree mate…it’s possible that the only "positive" side which Levy is choosing to acknowledge with regards to a bigger stadium is bigger crowds = bigger earnings. We’re doing fine at WHL ( we’re in the champions league, we’re not in debt, being the richest earner has never been an interest to Spurs and it shouldn’t be. City having more money than us counts for absolutely nothing ) and WHL is a sacred place to every single Spurs fan.

We have the best fans in the whole of the UK in my honest opinion and we are proud of where we come from. Moving from WHL is like sacking the history and sentimental personal value of WHL to every Spurs fan who’s been there. I personally do not care about having a huge stadium with 60,000 fans because you watch teams like United with 75,000 in attendance and it’s like a graveyard…if we were forced into a stadium change then i wish we could somehow expand WHL instead of moving somewhere else and/or building a new stadium altogether.

Are you serious? What gives you the right to dismiss other fans opinions on the Northumberland/Olympic projects. The English Premiere League and the clubs that are in it are not for Englishmen only. If that’s the case then don’t sell to merchandise to foreigners, don’t broadcast games internationally and don’t let foreigners buy shares of the company. Football and english football in particular has increasingly become over the years an international brand that happens to be played in England. In fact clubs today couldn’t survive on money completely generated domestically. Take out the international money and I can think of multiple clubs that are considered bedrocks that would go under quickly, i.e. Manchester United. Steelktm has proven to be a loyal and knowledgeable yid in my time here and his opinion though some may disagree should be welcomed IMO.

P.S. Also I live on the West Coast, you know what kind of commitment it takes to watch games in the pacific timezone.

Yes I am serious, I am not questioning Steels loyalty, neither am I suggesting that neither he, you or any other international fan should not be welcomed. What I am saying is that unless you have some kind of first hand knowledge about our roots and what it means to us to play our football at WHL in my opinion you are in a less well informed position to comment on the effect of moving to Stratford.

Are you from the North of London?
Or from London for that matter?
How many matches have you been to?
How many family members do you have that are from North London?
How much have you studied about the history of the club?

These are all actual questions because I’m trying to understand what in your opinion being a "real fan" are the requirements for someone to have an opinion on this. Because what it sounds like to me no matter what someone like Steelktm does his opinion would never matter in your eyes.

If we dont get the NDP, we’ll be moving to Stratford….simple as that

We cant continue to play at WHL forever and expect to be on the level of United/Chelsea/Arsenal because our income will never be on their level. This will in effect not allow us to buy top players, expand the club’s name, etc

I was 5 when I first went to a game at WHL, with my Dad & Grandfather who have supported the club since 51′ and 35′ respectively. Let me make it clear that I am not for a move to Stratford but at the end of the day if the move improves the club in ways that staying at WHL cant then so be it.

A little OT but check out this stadium that we may be getting involved with on a minimal basis. It’s being built in Korea, it reminds me of something you would see in V or District 9.

While I am strongly on the side against moving to the Olympic, I don’t understand the outrage directed at the club for weighing their options. Yes, the club has strong ties to the current location but where is the loyalty in return? The council is trying to gouge the club in the WHL remodel and yet people get mad at Levy and co. Shouldn’t at least some anger be directed at the group forcing Levy to consider moving the club?
