I decided to make this thread because these rumors are popping up everywhere on the forum and it’s hard to keep up. Still make individual threads if you want but this is more for the litany of random rumors we get every summer. Like this for example:

Barcelona to make Jan Vertonghen bid – Cartilage Free Captain

Jonathan Obika could make Doncaster switch

Dickov has tracked the former U20 England player for a long time and has now made his move.

“Jonathan’s a player I’ve admired for a long time,” said Dickov.

“I’ve watched him since he was 16-year-old at Tottenham and he’s a player I know a lot about.

“There have been preliminary discussions, but that’s about as far as it’s gone at the moment.”

Yeah no way Juve will pay £20m for any player, let alone a midfielder.

Maybe if Vidal goes, which doesn’t make sense.

Even if he does whoever replaces him won’t cost £20m.

They paid €18m (£14.3m) for Morata plus performance based addons and the fee will be paid in 4 installments. Pretty much everyone in Italy considers that to be a horrendous deal – especially considering they had Immobile already who some would say is as good. So who knows maybe they’re in the mood for making stupid deals this summer, the reported fee for Iturbe (though that’s not done) was pretty ridiculous as well.

However, if Juve pay €25m for Paulinho that would be one of the most expensive transfers for the club in a decade or so, the most expensive player they’ve bought since they started winning titles again. Does that sound like something a club like Juve would do for Paulinho after his season with Tottenham and poor World Cup?

Sounds like a garbage rumor. If Juve want him it would be for much less than €25m. I would take much less than £20m right now if we had a player to replace him.

The agent of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has admitted that the defender could leave White Hart Lane this summer amid interest from ‘several clubs’.

Mustapha Nakhli, the Belgian’s representative told Het Nieuwsblad:

Standard Sport reported last week that Barcelona are preparing an offer of £17.5m for long-term target Vertonghen.

Reports in Spain today said Barca are tracking Vertonghen – but are also considering a move for Mats Hummels, after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos and Valencia’s Jeremy Mathieu.

I think Levy wants to get a nice little bidding war going over Gylfi.

Good luck getting Jan for 17 million. With the crazy amounts thrown around these days levy would probably want 30+…..

I’d definitely take £8mil for Siggurdsson.. but I do feel he’ll do very well at either Crystal Palace or Swansea where he’ll be the key man!

£8m is a steal for Sigurdsson, give Sigurdsson game time and he will score lots of goals.

Of course he will. He’s terrible tight spaces and he will get loads of space in a bottom half team.

Thought this was harsh at first but it’s nail on the head really. I wouldn’t go as far as terrible but close spaces are definitely not one of his stronger points. With the additional space he’ll get playing for a lower side, he’ll be getting those chances at long shots/through balls way more often than when he played for us. Good move for him.

Sounds like Jan’s agent wants a better deal with these comments

"He has been cleared to speak to Hull City but Dawson is refusing to leave in a £5million deal unless he gets a four-year contract with the Tigers."

I question this source. I know Dawson isn’t a young lad anymore but why wouldn’t they give him a 4-yr deal? Seems pretty standard.

Well presumably he isn’t taking a pay cut. His last Spurs contract was only three years no? Can Hull afford to match his current wage for 4 years?

I’ve read that the stumbling block is giving him a testimonial. FFS, just give it to to him so that we can get the deal done.

Yep, the quote "Tottenham is not a small club" reeks of exactly that.

Footballers…… Only in the wacky world of football logic does his last season deserve a new contract.

Oh it deserves a new contract alright, I just don’t think he would like the new one very much.

Tottenham will staunchly resist any offers for defender Jan Vertonghen this summer, Sky Sports understands.

The 27-year-old centre-half has four years left on his current contract and Spurs have no intention of selling the Belgium international.

Vertonghen’s future at White Hart Lane has been questioned following recent comments made by his agent, Mustapha Nakhli, in which he claimed a host of European clubs were interested in the player.

But Sky sources understand Spurs have not received any contact from the Catalan giants about Vertonghen, nor any other club for that matter, and are unconcerned by Nakhli’s comments.
